Two questions...

Has anyone determined which package(s) can see these 4xxx channels in their EPG?

I don't normally have the map downs enabled. But I turned them on this evening and all of the map downs listed above for these 4xxx channels are currently in my dishHD (AKA HD only) package EPG.

Have these same map downs existed in the dishHD package EPG before today?

Thanks in Advance - Talon Dancer

thanks again for your tireless efforts posting these up-link reports, which keep some of us entertained for hours while trying to read the tea leaves :)

Yes. I use the mapdowns of the Hd channels and they have been there for some time now.

Thanks. I thought so, but wasn't sure.

I guess the package(s) that see these nicely ordered 4xxx channels in their EPG remains a mystery.

I would just LOVE to have the 4000 range enabled and have the 9000 channels disappear! The 4000 range thingy is what I have been requesting since immediately after the last mass HD channel additions!

Um... okay... a long transition then. It just makes much more sense in finding the tight HD channel without the pitfalls of mapping (which I loathe--I want my HD channels "here" and SD channels "there" not intermingled) and the willy-nilly channel placement at the 9000 range!

See ya

The point of MapDown is that family members know the channel number.

My wife will enter "2-1-4" to see The Weather Channel.

Mapdown means that she gets the HD version.

Otherwise should we have to remember some new four digit number of the HD channel.

And Mapdown means that family members automatically get the HD version without even knowing that it has launched.

The only thing missing from MapDown is for it to work the same way as Locals HD MapDown and actually remove the SD channel from the Guide.

Then family members could Channel Up and Down without getting both HD and SD version before the actual channel change.

I'm not saying do away with map downs all together... I just don't like them myself. But the new 4000 range is 4+the three digit number. 4-214 for TWC HD. 4-176 for cartoon network HD. But then if you want to cruise the HD channels only (Like I do every so often) without having to go into special guides or learning a different channel line-up you can just channel up and down and find the HD channels where they should be.

Like Tony I would like to have the 4xxx series available in my EPG. But maybe for a different reason....

I don't know the channel number of ANY of the Dish channels. And I NEVER "channel up -down". The 622 takes way to long to change channels to get anywhere in my lifetime. Instead I always flip to the All Subs EPG and page up and down to find the channel I'm looking for by name/logo. Yes even if it happens to be the next one. This is why I don't turn on map downs. For me they just clutter the EPG with SD-HD duplicates unless i go to the trouble to lock them out or build a favorites list, etc..
