Playstation Lost Billions? AHhhhhh!

I'm not a fanboy, I have all three major systems and the two major handhelds, but I have to remark, the PS3 is still a baby in the industry and still has the capability to become a very huge money maker for them. How long until we hear from the fanboys tellin us that the PS3's demise is almost here?

Disregard the billions they've made on software and accessories, and will continue to make.
'cept they haven't made them yet. I mean damn, the division just finally hit break even/profit, but that includes the surging sales of the PSP and PS2 which are profitable hardware-wise.

PS3 has a long way to go to make the money it's lost them, but it will make it back. Add to that the intangible successes like the leverage it gave Sony and the BDA in the HD optical disc war and there will be few regrets in a few years.

I would say Christmas of this year will let us know.

I disagree, as far as Sony* goes, they are a market giant in the world.
Remember, PS, PS2 dominated the market, so I have to say that Microsoft is the baby in the industry.

He is not refering to Sony / Ms but to the PS3. compared to the 360, PS2 , etc.

All companies go through this with a game system (unless you're Nintendo of course...) You lose a lot of money from system hardware and look to help make it up with software and accessory sales. The problem is that the PS3 was so cheap (compared to costs) for quite a while, and also sales were so disappointing, and they went through numerous hardware configurations, people were wary because the format wars were still going on and were scared to adopt Blu Ray... etc etc.

Now things are turning around. Blu Ray won the war and more movies are being made for it, hardware costs are down, and with MGS4 and a lesser extent GTA4 out, as well as more exclusives coming down the pipeline, I think the rest of this year will end up very well for Sony.

MGS4 the game that is killing PS3s? heh, they finally start to push the hardware on the PS3 and it's starting to fail like the 360 does.

MAXCONSOLE - Playstation 3 - MGS 4 messes up yet another 60GB PS3, what's going on Konami?

So lets not get arrogant yet. :D

I'm not being "arrogant." I'm not a fanboy of any system. I own all 3, so I want all of them to be successful. And as far as MGS4 breaking 60GB PS3s, if you look at that link and the forums it goes to, one person complains that their PS3 broke, 10+ people all say, "My copy works fine" and then 1 other guy will say that their copy got messed up as well but they can't trace it to just MGS4.

This isn't anywhere near the level of problems that people had with GTAIV. Also I have a feeling that a major part of it is just that people are burning out their PS3s with marathon playing sessions.

Big smile means that generally a person is being playful with a statement :D

and this was just 1 example, I have seen messages on digg etc. about it as well.

And I say lets meaning everyone. Not pointing at you. So do not take that personal.

Mine works just fine...no problems here.

Now, what % of people post on online forums to complain about their MGS4 copy breaking their PS3?
I'd say probably under 5% max.
To be realistic, there are millions of people out there that are running MGS4 on their PS3's with no problem.
