Idiot Chad Johnson changes his name to Chad Ocho Cinco

[/b]

That is hardly in the same league. Those guys changed their names for religious reasons. The only religion involved in Chad Johnson's name change is the "Church of Chad".

I agree with Paul. Chad is doing it for a publicity stunt and to make more money.

Also, keep in mind where Kareem and Ali rank all-time in their respective sports.

Chad Johnson's not even close to being among the best wideouts of all-time!

I'm thinking this all just a joke he's pulling on everyone, he'll probably say "No I was just kidding".

This is no joke.

Chad wanted to put "Ocho Cinco" on the nameplate on the back of his jersey, but the NFL said no, because only last names can go there, not monikers.

So Chad threatened to change his last name to "Ocho Cinco" so he could conform to the league's policy about last names on the back of the jersey and now that he legally changed his name, he legally should be able to put "Ocho Cinco" on the nameplate.

IT SUCKS...... because he is not doing ANY harm to the league, he is not doing ANY harm to his team, he is not causing issues in sportmanship, he is not insulting the latino community and he used NO ONE ELSES MONEY to leagally change his name except his own. He is trying to bring fun to a league that has done EVERYTHING POSSIBLE to take out celebration and fun FROM A GAME!!!!

I am sure that the league office will do everything in it's power to shut this down. I mean GOD FORBID that the league would go after guys that have police records longer than most kids Christmas list..... or something PRODUCTIVE like that.....

Hence the new moniker for NFL being the "No Fun League". I really loved the Redskins celebration when they would score a touchdown where they would get in a circle and jump up and give a high five.

That's because you like that team, I have nothing against people celebrating after scoring a TD, but T.O. and Chad 85 seems to take it too far.

There is nothing wrong with spiking the ball, manly huggingor high fiving.

HOW is it going too far? Pretending to sign an autograph? Pretending to make a phone call? Dancing a cha-cha like ochenta y cinco(for the hispanically impaired, that is "85" in spanish....LOL;)) As long as it's not lewd or taunting....the player can go nutz....:up

I didn't say I like him changing his name. For me it's stupid, but it ain't me.

I dunno.. I enjoyed T.O.'s TD ceremonies at the end of his 49ers days. I mean how much of a resurgence did "Sharpie" have all because of him? And didn't he end up doing that when he played against the Eagles?

Well let's be honest... that would be like going after every politician who ever took lobbyist money. You do that then what we're left with will REALLY be the "No Fun League."

Terrell Owens may be one of the most criticized/hated players,

but there is one reason I like him a lot:

He never gets into trouble with the law.

T.O. has a clean criminal record with ZERO arrests, unlike Pacman.

No law against throwing your QB under the team bus. Romo's time is coming, bet on it. As for TD celebrations, if they don't hold up the game, I really don't care. I liked how Barry Sanders did things - he just flipped the ball to the ref. His theory was "to act like you been there before." Very classy.

He did that because that's what Walter Payton said too.

It was all a waste of time, hell Hines Ward imitates other WR, I think it's a waste of time also.

NFL to Recognize "Ocho Cinco" Name Change

CINCINNATI -- Chad Johnson is no more. It's officially Chad Ocho Cinco in the NFL.

Ocho Cinco

The Cincinnati Bengals announced Thursday that they have begun "the process of listing the former Chad Johnson as Chad Ocho Cinco for all club business, per the legal change of his surname effected in Florida.

"The list of appropriate changes will include Ocho Cinco wearing his new surname on the back of his jersey for Sunday's season opener at Baltimore."

Ocho Cinco officially changed his name to Chad Javon Ocho Cinco in Broward County, Fla., last week. The league had not changed his name on its Web site or the team's Web site.

"It's something I don't think anyone has ever done before," the Pro Bowl receiver told the Bengals' Web site last week. "Have I ever had a reason for why I do what I do? I'm having fun."
