Dish Network will be holding a special Charlie Chat tonight. ONLY FOLKS who have had their local stations removed by Fisher Communications will be able to see this special Charlie Chat. It will not air on channel 101, but will instead air on the channel which was removed.

Charlie will discuss the negotiations, answer emails and take live phone calls from affected subscribers.

Viewers will be able to call in at 1-888-621-2078 or email CharlieChat@DishNetwork.COM

The chat will air at 7PM MT and 6PM PT.

guess negotiations aren't going well..

<in his best Charlie voice> We're right, they're wrong.. call them and tell them.. write your congress.. sue them.. etc... etc... etc...

Haha, and I'll bet a number of people thought Charlie was going to announce a special "Christmas" present for customers ! :D

Oh man, the headline, "Special Charlie Chat Tonight" got me so excited for a second! I saw Scott posted it, so I got more excited!! Then I saw it wasn't about new HD... And I died a little inside... :(

I don't get how any of this works . . . where do networks get off trying to overcharge something which is free OTA??? If I worked at Dish, I look at who those networks are in bed with; something smells fishy and its not the WFN Network!

Do you remember these words "We don't believe it is fair that other carriers are getting lower prices for these channels and we don't think it is fair to charge our customers more for the same content"

In Nashville we had these interuptions twice and it sucked, funny why you never here others carriers having the the same issues.

As I recall they did the same thing a few years back when the ABC o&o stations went away for a few days. It's just Charlie beating his chest and saying how unfair Fisher (or whoever) is in their demands, and how he is standing up for YOU the customer. He will also suggest that you can put up an antenna, perhaps offering it for free, and preferably use it with a new model 722 receiver that seamlessly integrates off-air locals with Dish programming.

Can anyone recall the last time that DirecTV shut off any channel due to a contract dispute? In the interest of full disclosure, I am a satisfied Dish customer currently in a new 2-year contract.

Maybe he'll bring back Six (Tricia Helfer) of Battlestar Galactica?

Nah, for the more focused Charlie Chat; he'd be more likely to bring in Six (Jenna von Oÿ) of Blossom :D

But yeah, I was also in the Charlie's "Polar Express" bandwagon of hope. Good luck to those suffering with Fisher stations, may they find their way back into your EPG's....er...well, SOON.

For whatever reason, D* just shut down one- WSKY, I think.

This is nothing unique to Dish. Directv and the cablecos go through it too. Being a Dish subscriber, you're not likely to pay attention, let alone care, when it happens to the others.

Check out Charter Cable in Charlotte NC. They are dropping WCNC 36 NBC for the same reasons. Dec. 31 they pull the plug.
