Correct it will move from 110 to 119. They seem to be shuffling things around in AK/HI and PR.

Any idea what Dish plans to do with those empty spotbeans at 110 for PR/AK/HI after moving them from 110 to 119?

I ask because the uplink report implies there is some doubt, since STELA requires Dish to include the local PBS-HD channels in any new market they add, and the ones listed above do not have them.

If you look carefully, those are on spot beams, which means they are being provided to places outside of the 48 states, i.e. Puerto Rico, Alaska and Hawaii.

PBS by the end of 2011 (KVIE). It could be prior to that, it depends on Dish's schedule. KMAX (CW) by a date in 2013, if it is in HD.

No.

For example, the PBS section of the bill refers to:

qualified noncommercial educational television stations located within that local market

BTW, I do not think that CW and MY are recognized by law. There is a requirement to carry all local HD channels in a market by a date in 2013, but that does not distinguish between CW, MY, UNI, TEL or unaffiliated.

Remember, all of the language in the legislation about providing stations not in the local market refers to "allowing", not "requiring".

The only "requiring" is all PBS HD by end of 2011, and all local HD by end of 2013 (both are only for markets where Dish provides something in that market - Dish is not required to provide any market).

In theory, STELA should become law within 24-48 hours, unless either the President vetoes the bill, or Congress adjourns.

There goes all the upstate New York stations. I wonder why they don't just put them all on eastern arc. Now all these folks will continue to need 2 dishes for HD.
