Any News on MLB Channel on Dish?

Forgive me if this subject has been beaten to death, but does anyone know if Dish has any plans to start carrying the MLB channel? Every time I talk to them about it, they keep saying either that there isn't enough demand for it or that MLB is asking too much for them to carry it (they can't even keep their story straight). When I visited my parents this summer and was able to watch MLB on Direct TV, I thought I was in baseball heaven. I can't believe they are so stupid as to not think carrying this channel would be an attraction for their service.

Nope. MLB was trying to force dish to be part owner of the network which DISH did not want to do.

They had MLB extra innings before and they lost money on it.

I dont see it coming to DISH anytime in he future.

You're right, beaten to DEATH. Never gonna appear on Dish. Thank goodness. Let D* carry the cost and pass it on to their customers.

yep like they say, Charlie doesn't want to be part owner and he wants to save money, you wonder why we Dish customers call him a cheapskate.

MLB.TV not the answer

MLB.TV does not resemble the MLB Channel at all. What a helpful reply.:no How about letting those of us who want MLB PAY for it? Thanks for the really informative response, KAB.

The cost of this channel and EI is not going to be substantial enough to increase rates, assuming they lose money off of it.
If they can make money or even break even, then it definitely will not increase rates. Plus, they may pick up a few more subs

I Want MLB Network too!

I'm 100% with Ribbie. This is my line in the sand point with DISH and the reason I'm considering a move to Direct. (That and the Whole House HD DVR that DISH doesn't seem to be in any hurry to add) I'd much rather stay with *E and not switch out all of my equipment, but the MLB Network is an awesome channel. By far the best of the league owned channels. To say that there is little demand for it is disingenuous.

The only time I've seen MLB Channel was at a relative's house and all I saw was a bunch of players throwing balls to their kids at the batting cages. I realize there is more to it than that but I don't have any desire to have the channel, there is plenty of baseball related programming on ESPN.

Of course there is more to it than that. In fact, that does not even come close to resembling the channel. To base your opinion on that, is like determining if someone is a good driver based on how they are warming up their car while parked in the driveway.

Why?

It never fails to amaze me why somebody would spend their time writing in to say that they DON'T want a channel that other people want, especially when they have no concept what the channel is about. To say that there is baseball on ESPN is like saying you don't want HBO because there are movies on Starz. I don't like soccer, but I don't criticize other's desire to have Fox Soccer Channel. If you are afraid that you'll have to pay for MLB Network, those of us who want it would be happy to pay for it in a higher level package or as a premium. It just seems counter-productive to say you don't want a channel, because you don't like it or understand it. Others do.

It doesn't appear that we will be getting MLB Network on Dish anytime soon, especially with the season winding down. I subscribe to a minimal Comcast package just to get this channel and I must say it is completely worth it. The live look-ins are great and I watch them almost every night. I'm hoping someday Dish will get their act together so I can cancel Comcast and save some money, but until then I'll continue to do what I have to in order to watch this network.

If MLB would offer the channel without requiring carriage of Extra Innings (which I assume they still do) there might be hope, but as Scott said, Dish lost money on Extra Innings so why would they want to offer it again.

There must have been some creative accounting going on somewhere when Dish Network received basically half of the subscription dollars from each subscriber.

Source for having DirecTV "pass it on to their customers"?

Dish carries the NBA, NFL and even the NHL for God's sake and not MLB this is ludicrous.

Yes it is! Dish doesn't carry MLB but it carries the gay channel (LOGO). Does anybody (besides me) resent paying for that channel in their monthly bill?

BTW, the last time I posted a reference to "the gay channel", my post magically disappeared. LOGO is openly gay and has programs with "gay" in the titles, so I don't know who got offended and deleted my post. I thought "gay" was the politically correct term.

no, Gay is not the politically correct term, the politically correct term is Homosexual.

and the reason why Dish doesn't want MLB Channel is because Charlie hates losing money on channels that other people like. and didn't i mentioned in this same thread that he's a cheapskate.
