Pffft, I don't expect whatever "blocks" they come up with to last for long. It's all too easy to bypass various DRM measures really. I give it the blocks the amount of time it takes for the Apps store to come to the GoogleTV. Can almost guarantee you that one of the first apps will be something that will allow you to watch that content.
So much for Google tv and DISH. With 3 of the big 4 networks refusing access, that leaves just FOX . Oh Wait a minute Fox is about to be pulled come 11/1/10. So that would be all 4 nets. I see limited use of the box without access to the network programming.
What's the use then? The whole idea was to have Google go out and search and find the shows you want, WHEREVER they are. If you have to start an app, not be able to search everything at once, and do all this extra stuff to watch a show, it kind of defeats the whole purpose of the "box".
And you gotta know, Google ain't forking over any dough for rights.
The network reaction to google box is just silly.
Apple will come out with a new Mac mini that will be the same size as the google box except it is a computer. You will be able to access all site as you would with a computer. The cost for Mac mini is $600.00 today the new box will be at $300.00. Computer box and tv set will continue to intergrate. To start blocking now is dumb.

It's just the some content on network websites, and it's typical behavior, Hulu has been playing wack-a-mole with devices for quite some time now ensuring they have complete access of who sees their content.
Wrong Answer Scott.. We will be selling them Dish sent us a fact blast telling us our economics on selling them.. Out Sell price will be the $179 price point too..
I don't understand why they would block. I can go to the FREE ABC app on my iPad and watch full lenght episodes for free. I can go to the other networks sites and watch this same content for free. What a stupid (and very frustrating) move.
GoogleTV has nothing to do with DISH other then it can control DISH devices over the HDMI. You can buy, use and enjoy and GoogleTV box and you don't need to be a DISH customer.
Then something changed as about two weeks ago I got a document that said the boxes will not be available from retailers.

Are you sure about that, Scott. I was under the impression it was controlling the box via a TCP/IP connection... That would explain why the Google TV update allowed the boxes to be 'discovered' from within windows. I think the HDMI is just an audio/video pass through with power commands floating through it. I believe search, etc... is searching the receiver via TCP/IP. They already had it addressable via TCP/IP from the Sling portal (iPhone remote). I think they just opened up that API (if you even want to go far enough to call it that) to devices on the home network with the proper key.

You might be right about that.
When I set mine up it detected all the DVR's on my network. And it showed me their IP address. I had to select which one I was hooking it up to.
I watched a YouTube video last night where a LogicTech rep was demoing the Revue. He did mention that the Revue sends commands to the Dishnetwork receiver via the network connection.
So I was thinking of getting the Revue from Dish in addition to a Sony one (I like the blu-ray integration). How would I set up the Sony for DVR control and would that cost another $4 a month?
All GoogleTV boxes no matter who makes them can do the DISH integration. Its a GoogleTV feature, not a specific box feature.
