HITS Package Prices Increased

What I can't understand, what exactly is it about HITS that some folks like? The selection is sad..nothing worth subbing to in my opin.

On a side note, I searched listings on Ebay the other day for 4dtv. There was one auction where there were 20 or 30 bidders bidding on a 922 with an hd200. They were up to like 160 bucks when I found that auction. What in the world would anybody want with an hd200 these days? Mine has been collecting dust for quite some time now. It's basically useless IMO.

possible reasons
-they do have some channels that arent on any other platform (the music channels as example)
-you watch very little TV but there are a couple channels available that you want
-there are some people who feel that DBS is the reason "C-Band got killed" yet it isn't...so they wont get cable/satellite out of spite
-they really like SD programming and would rather get a channel in SD versus HD?
-they dont know any better that there are other options out there. Heck some 4DTV'ers still buy parts from overpriced companies because "it makes them feel warm and fuzzy inside"

it pretty much is useless. But some people I guess collect them?

Some more reasons........
1) Better value than Dish Network and their Welcome package
2) And NO Contract required

Although I'm not currently subscribing to HITS programming I do like it for many reasons. I believe if you tried HITS you would feel differently about the service.

What I like about HITS:
* No contracts
* Althought not HD the SD picture quality is awesome.
* Receive several channels that some DBS and CATV providers don't carry such as MTV HITS, Sprout, etc.
* Channels such as Bravo, HGTV and History have E & W feeds.
* Low cost packages starting at $9.49 a month without needing to subscribe to a basic channel package.
* Goes well with OTA and / or FTA satellite if you are trying to cut costs.

thats very debatable....While H2H has some channels the Welcome Pack has alot of good basic channels like TBS, HGTV, Food, History, We, AMC, CMT, MTV2, Hallmark and some more.

2) And NO Contract required
I have no contract with my 211. Bought it for $100 and I can integrate my OTA locals in it and record them to a hard drive :)

probably not. I've used clunky Motorola crap when I had Shaw. Maybe the newer Shaw receivers have a better guide but the older ones sucked. Last I checked H2H worked off that old guide

see above

ok. But SD in alot of cases is SD
* Receive several channels that some DBS and CATV providers don't carry such as MTV HITS, Sprout, etc.
already noted that above
* Channels such as Bravo, HGTV and History have E & W feeds.
with most cable channels showing the same new episode twice a night its a moot point. If I miss Larry at 8 I can watch it at midnight on same channel
* Low cost packages starting at $9.49 a month without needing to subscribe to a basic channel package.
I guess if you like MTV its fine ;)
I like with the WP I can add a few lost cost packages (outdoor sports for $3...Heartland which has RFD, Hallmark, GMC and a couple others for $5)
* Goes well with OTA and / or FTA satellite if you are trying to cut costs.
as does the Welcome Pack. And you can get new equipment and not have to worry if your battery will die or if it will power up right ;)

Bottom line is if you like H2H more power to ya...but there are other options out there. I was answering the question that highskies posted :)

I know I wil get banned for this, but here it goes. This forum was originally for free to air satellite reception along with the pay service. Now that the site owner has gotten some support from the pay sevice companies any other options are junk. the main goal of this forum now seems to be to sell Dish or Directv programming instead of supporting what made this forum what it is. The mods slam the programming available for the 4DTV crowd when they could be pushing it and make more options available and make a few more buck just like they did for DTV and Dishnet. It really sucks what money ans greed has done to modern society.

Why would you get banned? Last I checked your post didnt break any of the rules. I guess you have us confused with another site or something

still is

You really need to put down the wacky weed. Because you are WRONG. Plus I'm not site owner ;)
We have sponsors here that help pay some of the bills. One has both Directv and Dish and Scott is part owner of that site (dishstore) and one is for FTA (SatelliteAV).
Last I checked neither DBS company helped pay my programming bill. I get a bill each month that I have to pay
Last I checked neither DBS company has given me free equipemnt (unlike another site that gets free equipment in exchange for a good review)
So NOBODY is telling me I need to say something to keep "someone" happy.

The FTA area is different than the rest of the site as Scott has given us this area and he kinda stepped aside. I have run the FTA area for almost 8 years now. When Satelliteguys first started we had no specific area. We were relegated to the "general satellite" area to talk FTA and C-Band. Then we got our own area in mid 04, Scott gave the keys to myself and another mod (who is no longer here due to actions on the board) and said "have fun" and we have turned this into a great area. This area we have taken comments from folks and have shaped the FTA area forum to how we like it. Most of the other areas of the site are what staff decided. We added forums like the FTA Shack (to talk about non technical FTA stuff), the PC card area, the azbox forum and at one time we had both a C-Band forum and a 4DTV forum. But that was when 4DTV was "much bigger" and had more options. But things change and we moved the PC area into the main forum and combined the 4DTV and C-Band forum due to the lack of really anything being added. No new channels were added, nothing was removed and since 4DTV is C-Band only it was common sence to combine the two forums.

I'm not "slamming" anything (since you said mods you must just mean me because I am really the only mod for the FTA area.) I'm giving people options. When History went bye bye on 101W folks gave out options. Some said H2H and some said Dish. Thats the great thing about satellite. You have OPTIONS. One person in particular (Dee) said she was looking for options and preferred it to be in HD. Well last I checked H2H didnt carry it in HD so the Dish option would be better. But again we are giving out different options. Heck I even saw a post about Canadian TV in that. I have said numerous times that if H2H had some more channel options maybe more folks would go to it. But not having channels that most folks want is their downturn. Well that and really old crappy equipment. I've used Moto receivers with my 905, the 410 and my Shaw receivers (205, 305, 505) and they are slow and clunky. While H2H does have some "niche" channels that would be in a higher package with Dish or Direct they are seriously missing regualr channels that most folks want. And yes most were on the NPS platform when they had them (the Turner nets, A&E, etc). And while folks complained about the quality it gave you a....wait for it.....OPTION. Now that option is gone.

Some of us give out different options. I'm not saying go with ______________ provider or go with something like H2H. But if I have nothing setup (No C-Band dish, no C-Band receiver) I dont know about you but I'd check ALL options before making a decision. While I can have a big dish (even though I am in a HOA....being the ex-president helps) the channels I wanted I could get on a DBS platform and in HD. Even if we throw HD out of the question (god knows why) H2H doesnt have the channels I want. What have they done in the last year? They added 4 porn channels...yay

For some people H2H works.....I'm just not one of them.

by the way......Here is something interesting..... Found a PDF from SRL Dated 12/7/09....so 2+ years ago. A few interesting examples on how much the pricing has gone up

Discovery Package...was 7.39 now 13.99 for pretty much the exact same channels
MTV pack...was 7.99 now 9.49 and a channel was removed
Super Pack...31.99 now 39.99
Pick 10...was ~$17 now is 22.99
Family was ~$20 now is $27.99
The last 2 they only bill for 3 months so I took the 3 month average and added a buck.

It's been said, "4dtv will be around for a long time", "but, the remaining few will pay for it"! :D

Now if were going to talk about price increases we need to look at Dish Network as they've not been idle in raising their prices. And of course they like to give you a low teaser price to make you feel better.
