I have one of my hoppers in my bedroom.
Its in an open cabinet with good ventilation.

The unit is piping hop.
Also makes a loud humming noise.
No issues with its performance.

I have a replacement coming in a few days.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Neither of mine get that hot, the HWS is in an tight area, but the front is wide open and there is a large hole for cables in the back. Doesnt get as hot as my 722k.

My 722k got warm. That's to be expected.
When I spoke to dish they did not even question
Me. They just sent out a new unit.

Not sure there is a danger in having a unit that hot?

Did you go into the menu and check out it's temps?
?

OK, I'll bite. I have two HWS and I've gone to the menu and I can't find temps. Can you please direct me?

BTW, mine are barely warm to the touch but are out in the open on all sides but bottom.

Ya know what? I'm not sure. I just went to check and I couldn't find it either. I looked where it should be, like on the 722k, but there were no temp readings.

My HWS's also feel very hot & make distracting buzzing/electronic noise I can hear 10 ft away. Temp shows high of 114 in an air conditioned room, sure feels hot enough to burn your hand.

114 is a low temperature unless you live in a refrigerator.
The H2000 got hotter and the 722s before that got a lot hotter.
Hoppers seem better on this.
Make sure the side vents are not blocked and nothing is stacked.

I kind'a miss the noisy reboots so I could tell it was doing it.

I was looking under diagnostics. Really didn't expect to see it under network setup. The Hopper I have in our showroom is a high of 120 and low of 116. Seems pretty normal actually.
