Does it make any sense to place a Local station on a CONUS transponder? Seems like a huge waste of capacity with a possible FCC violation. I wish we were able to receive "Distant Locals" from the Network O&Os, but the government put a stop to that long ago.

If it MUST be carried, & the spot beam for that area IS filled, then YES; I've actually seen other locals (NOT used for distant nets) on CONUS beams

Why do you say this? As long as that channel is NOT being delivered (illegally) OUTSIDE it's local market, the FCC doesn't care WHICH type of x-ponder it's on

Lexington, Cincinnati, Jacksonville FL, Paducah, Louisville, Davenport, Little Rock, Springfield MO, Bowling Green, Evansville, Columbus GA, Bluefield/Beckley and Lima are all on ConUS beam at 77° right now. This is nothing new. The only thing other than locals on 77° are the Dish Latino channels that are NOT part of the AT packages.

DISH can have them all CONUS if they wanted. Makes no difference how they are transmitted, only who receives them.

I only say CONUS local because there is a precedent...Lima OH was recently added as a new market, and was put on 77W CONUS.
