Can i still record on TV 2 and watch on TV 1 if I have a Tivo connected to TV 1?

Thanks @TheKrell. That remote is infinitely better. They sent me something, I think a new remote however I was told by Eddie Muro that the one they have won't work with the 722. Maybe he was wrong. I'll see when I get it.

Looks like you posted while I was responding. Did we already send one out? It will work with the 722.

Zach, Something was sent to me yesterday but I'm not sure what it is. I'm thinking a remote because of the conversation I had the other night. That will only fix 1/2 the problem since I have nothing I can use on TV2 where the problems are worse because there is no ambient light.

I will contact you when I get the package to see what's in it and go from there. I still however. want to use my Tivo to run the TV since, when I am able to set something up to record, it is non-user friendly.

I am not at all happy and would return this in heart beat if I could since not only does it not function but my experiences with customer service have been a nightmare.

Zach, something was sent, but I don't know what. As I told you, Eddie Muro said it would not work with the 722. And that still doesn't resolve my issue for TV 2 or my original request to hook up my TIVO.

I'll let you know what I get since I will have to program it and don't know how. Thanks

Calling Dish is not always a pleasant experience for anyone. Hopefully your experience is better here. I'll bet more problems get resolved faster and more peacefully here than by calling Dish. Between the members here and the DIRT team almost any issue can be resolved.

I would be happy to address any issues you are having trying to setup recordings with our system.

I certainly hope so. I was in customer service for 20 years and I've never experienced such incompetence and ignorance in my life.

I would bypass the normal Dish csr's, most are not given info or they do not understand it or know what to access to answer a subscriber's needs. I usually deal with DIRT members on this site or use the online chat while signed into your 'MyDish" account.

I'm totally confused. I can't get things to record when I want to where I want them to record. I have to manually go through things to record which Is why i'm frustrated and why I want to use my tivo.

I don't know who DIRT is or how to find them. I'm exhausted and frustrated and confused.

Perhaps if you took some time to read the user's guide, you might learn how to do what you want.

I have a very hard time reading because of a neuro issues, which is why I'm here. I know what i want it to do, but it's to unwieldy to let me figure out how to do it.

Who can help me? I set it to record something, it won't do it, or it puts it on the wrong TV so I have to cancel, then search for it again to try to record it when I want it and where I want it. It shouldn't be this hard.

I need help from someone who understands, not some runaround from Dish support who knows less than me

If you are not using the TV2 output of the 722, just put it in Solo mode. This is done via a front panel switch. I predict all your problems will be solved (along with the Dish Basic remote), since it no longer matters what output you're looking at. The recording will employ the TV2 tuner, and you will only have a conflict if you record two sat recordings at once. Note that, if you plug in an antenna to the 722, you will also get local channels that way. It's a 3rd tuner, and it just might give you all you have with your Tivo. Full disclosure --> I have never used a Tivo.

So you had a 622 and everything worked just fine? Now you have a 722 and you are having troubles running it? I don't know why it's not working the same as before since it is essentially the same receiver. It operates the same way as the 622 so setting recordings should be exactly the same.

There are multiple ways to set a recording. One is from the program guide, select a show from there and it will give you recording options. You can record the show just once or if it's a series you can record only new or even reruns. When you select a show to record it defaults to record on TV2. If there are 2 shows on at the same time that you want recorded it will record one on TV2 and the other show on TV1. Regardless of what TV the show was recorded on you can access it from either one in order to play it back later.

I'm assuming you already know everything I just stated above since this is how you set recordings on the 622 as well.

@thekrell. I use TV 2 in my bedroom. I want to be able to watch TV live in there at night from 7-10 but it is scheduling programs to record there even though there is no conflict. I have to go delete them and then reschedule them so it goes to TV 1.

When the tech left he had it set that TV 2 was the primary recording place so I changed that (took 1/2 hour in chat with a tech to figure that out).

Well, as long as you aren't trying to watch both the TV1 and the TV2 outputs simultaneously, solo mode would still work for you and make it completely unnecessary to worry about where it's recording. As long as you still have a free tuner, you could still watch live. If you connect up an antenna as well, you will have a total of 3 tuners, all of which can be used to record.

The receiver defaults to record the first priority show on TV2. It sounds like you prefer to have your shows record on TV1 so you can watch live TV on TV2. You can select which tuner you wish the show to be recorded on. If you to the menu, preferences, record plus and then you can select which tuner your recordings default to.

How can I tell it what tv to record on? Why won't it record a show even when there is no conflict?

Menu-Preferences-Record Plus
This will allow you to control what TV it is recorded to. The default setting is for TV2. You may want to disable this feature. The recording will then record to whatever TV you set the time from.

I agree with TheKrell, placing the receiver in solo mode would work if both TVs aren't going to be used at the same time.

I'll give that a try but how will that solve the problem of where things record? This recording on the "wrong" tv is a problem from 7-10 pm and then during the day. I'd like to be able to manually tell it where I want it to record, but apparently I can't do that.
