Imagine the ratings that AMC would get if they did run it in the summer. Except they film in the summer, so they would be airing a new episode a little to close to actual production.

True, but it was fun last summer going to visit GA with my nephews as we went to all the shooting locations, including locations from the upcoming season.

That would only work if they had already started that way in the first year and then released it that next summer.

I do not think they could contain the spoilers if they shot that far in advance.

They clearly have a pretty damn good system in place as I'm not aware of too many, if any, spoilers for past episodes. Yes, people speculate and some guess correctly, but they're still just guesses.
