No I need to take a DVD and put it on my directv receiver

Well it can be done, but it will take some serious effort and some "somewhat" expensive hardware. Not worth the effort!

I have only one location with a dvd. I want to watch the content on my other tvs.

Right on! Specially since the "trick" requires at least an HD receiver on every TV that needs to share. Not to mentioned AM21 MOD etc.....

Yup, HD MODULATOR setup to look like a local channel fed through an AM21

Atleast $750-$1200 depending if you want 720 or 1080i

You'd be surprised. I know many who don't own Blu-ray players and only own a DVD player.

I have both - the DVD player has a OTA and QAM tuner and several inputs. I use it to bring things from the living room through the wall into the bedroom, with component.
