PS4 Owners Thread

Most the scenes in that trailer are from Uncharted 3, which concerns me that the "re-mastering" didn't do much to enhance Uncharted 1 graphically (i.e., put it on par with U2 and U3, though it already looked pretty amazing for its time). Though perhaps the reason for the U3 focus in the trailer was the decidedly different appearance of Elena in that game compared to U1 and U2.

None of the new modes particularly interest me, especially Brutal Mode, as I would be hard pressed to complete any of the games on even Survivor again at this point. And if I remember correctly, U2 and U3 already had an easier than Easy mode if I'm looking to play through again just for the story and visuals.

I still haven't played Uncharted 2 or 3 so I'll be getting this for sure. I'm not sure I want to play Uncharted 1 again though. I liked the game but by the time the supernatural enemies showed up near the end I was more than ready for it to be over.

Everything I have read says that 2 and 3 are much better experiences. I'm not saying Uncharted isn't a good game. I'm just not sure I need to play it again.

It isn't much but here's a snapshot comparison of Uncharted 1 on PS3 and PS4

PS3

PS4

And some other shots

Yeah, that's not just a resolution bump. You can clearly see details on his shoulder straps, hair, shirt, and lots of other places that just don't exist on the PS3 version. They clearly put some work into this.

Just looks less blurry to me, with details lost due to resource constraints now appearing.

Would be more interested in environment changes, if expect the main character to have gotten a lot of attention naturally.

I agree with you but I don't think it's just blurriness. On the PS4 version you can actually see the stitching and wrinkles in the leather holster straps and things like that. It's not just a higher resolution. There are no stitches on the PS3 version. They have gone back and added fine detail to stuff that already existed.

Now like you said, he is the main character so it makes sense that they would add detail to him since you see him all the time. The real test will be whether they did the same thing to the environments even though you will only see each section once during your entire playthrough.

The first thing that I noticed in the screenshot comparison was the improvements to the lighting (less contrast-y, more natural), which bodes well for environments, assuming such adjustments were made globally.

But yeah, generally impressed with the new details in the PS4 version. I wonder if they also added elements to the environment, such as wildlife, birds, rustling vegetation, etc., thinking of how certain other games have been enhanced (like GTA5) going from PS3 to PS4.

I'm assuming the collection will be on multiple blu-ray discs, since even the first game used more than half the disc space, if I recall correctly. Or maybe developers have gotten better at optimizing use of disc space.

I bet it's one disc. If Microsoft can fit all 4 Halo games into one disc for the Master Chief Collection Naughty Dog should be able to fit 3 9 hour campaigns onto one disc. To be fair, there was a 10-15GB day one patch to grab some of the multiplayer content that wouldn't fit. We are talking about 4 campaigns and over 100 multiplayer maps in that collection though.

My guess is that they just didn't bother compressing much on Uncharted 1 because they had an entire blu-ray disc to work with.

Edit: It won't really make a difference to me anyways since I buy just about everything digitally. Only way I'll end up with a retail copy is if there is some great Black Friday deal or something.

Gone. I'm curious as to who is getting these. I have literally bought every COD game there has been. You would think they would send me an email.

I've purchased all of them starting with Call of Duty 2 (the first COD on 360) with the exception of Call of Duty 3: World at War. They didn't send me anything either. You usually have to register early for game betas if you want in.

The only way to get guaranteed access is by pre-ordering Black Ops 3. If you are an Amazon Prime member you can pre-order for $49.99 and get access to the beta. Keep in mind that you have already missed part of the beta and I'm not sure how long it runs for. Still If you know you are going to buy Black Ops 3 on Day 1 it's probably worth it to pre-order and save the $10.

You won't see the discounted pricing until you get to checkout.

World at War was CoD 5.

I got a key and fired up the beta for like 2 matches yesterday night. My kids were out of control so I didn't really get much time, but so far there isn't much to say in that it's another CoD game with some changes. Sadly they don't really explain to you what these are or how they affect gameplay. I realize this is a beta but maybe just a little "What's new?" tutorial would have been nice. And of course since you don't get to learn about the weapons or maps you'll likely play about as well as a guy with 2 fingers on their hands for the first few matches. Still, I'll try it out a few more times to see if I can start to enjoy it and get psyched for the actual game to come out.

You're right. I missed Call of Duty 3 and World at War then.

The Black Ops 3 Beta is open to ALL PS4 players.

Gee.. can't help but feel a LITTLE sorry for those that preordered..

I know it's not a MGSV level game but reviews for Until Dawn went up today too. Even with all the praise Metal Gear is getting I'm more likely to play Until Dawn. I tried Ground Zeros for a little bit but I just couldn't get into it. I do plan to give it another shot and stick with it for more than 10 minutes this time though.

I'm not typically into horror games even though I have always loved horror movies. I think the fact that I am controlling the character makes it too intense for me. I can handle action games with horror elements but something like Amnesia is out of the question.

I originally had no interest in Until Dawn but after watching this video review I'm looking forward to it. It looks like they nailed the cheesy slasher movie feel that I love so I'm not sure I can pass it up. Hopefully I'm not too much of a baby to actually play through it.

The game has received a lot of glowing reviews. I would be getting it from GF now if it were for Gears Ultimate coming out the same day. I'll probably try it out next year once the gaming season dies down.

Sucks that they are missing the holidays. I wish it was out a couple months earlier when the weather sucks.

Well they mentioned a while back that the game would be delayed to Spring. On the plus side it gives you a chance to get completely caught up with the series with the Uncharted Collection.
