Had to replace my 722 a couple of times due to fried hard drives. First time didn't know about the heat issue. Installed a fan in cabinet with the first replacement 722. When the fan quit working (ran 24/7) the second hard drive followed a few days later. Haven't had any problems with the Hopper 2K.

Was more interested in looking for what it says on the back, I have my Hopper2K which has a Oppo BDP-105D and a Panamax Power Condition PM-5400 on top of it but I just did a search and the H2K actually is 125 Watts per what it says on the back of the box so the H3 actually would use less electricity from the wall...

bobvick should power his up without connecting it to anything to see how hot it gets. Even if doing that would affect getting it activated later, he should take one for the team. :D

Good thing that it's not an Iphone or we might have to call the increase in wattage powergate !!!

The LG G4 is the one that gets hot as it's 105F most of the time!

Anyways, I just took a flashlight and looked at my Hopper 2K installed on 11/16/2012. It's made in China and says 125Watts so 90Watts for the H3 is 72% of what it's now or basically 28% in power savings.

I'm sure there's an explanation but it appears what's labeled on the receiver is different than what dish has posted for pwr consumption.

Wattage doesn't concern me as long as the heat can be managed.

Seems like overkill to me but I've always know that a lot of members here like to do things to the extreme with their setups. I've never added anything to mine and it sits in a narrow opening in my TV stand with an open front. Zero problems.
