ACC Network

I spoke to dtv loyalty today about something else and they said ACC Network will be in the Xtra package but not choice.

Of the providers that still provide ESPN Classic as a linear channel will they replace ESPN Classic with ACC Network? What providers still carry ESPN Classic as a linear channel?

DirecTV still has ESPN classic (614)

I think most other MSOs dropped it when they re negotiation with Disney (altice , fios )

ACC Network arrived on Charter in my area sometime this afternoon. Currently airing is a 2-3 minute loop with animated logos of all of the schools in the ACC along with the major sports that are played. I think ESPN did something similar prior to the SEC Network going live.

If it's anything like the BTN, most of the Major Football teams in the ACC will only be on it a few times a year. (Which is a good thing actually, as my team is on Network so its a better production)

Conference networks are for "tier 3" games that don't get national placement (Fox, ABC, FS1, ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU for Big Ten, ABC and ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU for ACC) so games involving top 20 schools aren't on them very often.

True, but it is standard Disney practice for the first year or so to toss up "big" games on its new network. Goes all the way back to the launch of ESPN2. The idea that people are "missing out on the big game" puts presure on systems to sign on. Hense, the very first game on ACCN is Georgia Tech at the NATIONAL CHAMPION Clemson Tigers. Ratings rich Notre Dame is also scheduled for ACCN. Disney also forced a change in the basketball schedule, with conference games in week one, early November, involving UNC, Duke, Louisville, Virginia, and Notre Dame, among others. Look for this to continue until every body signs on.

Like I said in a different post, I would expect every ACC team to be on the network at least once a year (Football wise) ... thats the way the BTN works anyways.

Oh yeah when Ohio State plays Rutgers or Illinois that's an easy one for them to put on BTN. Since they've expanded the number of night games in the Big Ten lately sometimes they'll put it on BTN so they can have a third 7/8 pm game since Fox has contracts with two other conferences.

But I guess ACCN will show some 'better' games at first to try to get angry customers to call and force carriage, ESPN did the same with SECN at first. Maybe BTN did that at first too it was 12 years ago so I don't really remember.
