I have a Samsung 55" LED-backlit 1080HD set from 2009 that has been great at what it does, but there is one row of pixels that occasionally show up as the wrong row, if that makes sense. It doesn't happen all the time, but it's one of those things that when it shows up, you can't un-see it.

Fortunately, the 4K LG I bought is going strong and the Sammy got retired to the basement. No one has wanted to take it off my hands. Maybe my son will want it after he graduates college.

Skipping 8K, though…

Look at the TCL models at Costco. MUCH cheaper and 90% of the picture of the much more expensive ones.
I did look into them, but I'm a Sony guy. The set I'm replacing is a 10 year old 1080p Sony that is still working great, so I'll just re-purpose it. The model I quoted was on sale last month and I missed the sale. A Costco rep told me it's going back on sale next week, and it falls right into my budget....

Costco in Waterbury? Maybe I saw you there! :) I'm a Samsung guy myself, but when I saw the picture quality vs set cost of the TCLs, I was sold!

Our 55” LG 4K tv has been showing burn in whenever something stationary sits on the screen for a while. We really see it when pausing something or if the Roku home screen sits for a while. It eventually goes away but it has been getting worse over the last several months. Our TV is 5 1/2 years old as it was one of the first 4K TVs out on the market.

The first UHD TV, an LCD, was released by LG in the US seven years ago. I too am baffled about how there could be burn-in on an LCD set.

Plasma never visited the domain of UHD and retail UHD OLED has been available for just over five years. The original OLED TVs seem likely a wasteland of burn-in by now.

Nope, LCD. Anytime we paused anything or let it sit on the Roku home screen you’d see an after image after changing screens. It would go away after 5-10 seconds but it was getting more prominent and not taking as long to leave an image. I took advantage of the Best Buy early Black Friday event and purchased a 65” Samsung Q60 yesterday. The only annoyance is Samsung didn’t provide the wall mount screws that are compatible so I had to order them.
