One thing that I noticed when updating HBO Now to HBO Max on my android phone, HBO Max doesn't include Cinemax. While I don't know why I thought it would, I'm still disappointed.

Well it didn’t help that they named the new service the way they did, there were numerous stories about it not including Cinemax content.

And you should note that there won’t be any new Cinemax originals going forward.

On day one, HBO Max was downloaded about 30,000 times .

I wonder if that includes the 4 downloads I did from Aptiode? This who dispute thing that Roku and Amazon have been having lately makes me wonder whether there is any platform that is immune to this. Maybe NVIDIA?

I saw posted elsewhere that there's a Cinemax section in the HBO Max app, though the Cinemax originals like Banshee and Strike Back aren't there.

I wanted HBO Max because switching to it saves me $15/month. The only thing I have really found to watch is Doctor Who season 11 which I somehow missed on BBC America.

Scanning through, I was glad to see that. It was hit or miss whether Amazon or Apple TV would have the episode for free for the #‪DoctorWhoLockdown‬.

This is how I installed Aptiode: How to Download and Install Aptoide TV on FireStick/Fire TV? - TechyMice

Once installed, I just searched HBO Max for the app. Make sure you uninstall HBO Now first as HBO Max shows up as HBO Now after install.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner! Uninstalling HBO Now was the ticket. Sideloaded via Amazon FireTV Utility to two Sticks and a Cube. Amazon FireTV Utility is banned and long in the tooth but my go to app to push things from my PC. Worked like a charm. THANKS for the tip. BTW, I used the HBO Max APK from APK Mirror HERE:

HBO Max: Stream HBO, TV, Movies & More (Android TV) 50.0.0.36 APK Download by WarnerMedia Direct, LLC - APKMirror

just reading Justice League is leaving soon anyone know why ?

All movies on HBO have a timeframe when it is allowed to be on, it has been that way since HBO started.

For example, theater release, digital sale, DVD/BR release (usually PPV at same time), then pay channel ( HBO, Netflix, Starz, etc), then it could be on anywhere that has the rights after pay channel, FX for example.

Thanks for the info...it worked perfectly. Now I have to do it to 2 more firesticks.

Is it still working for you?

The Android app on Firestick stopped working for me. I suspect AT&T is blocking the device type. I tried reinstalling the app, but got the same results. Friggin' AT&T.

Nope. Did the same thing. Deleted and tried installing. I get the Unsupported Version. Damn AT&T.

Let me understand this.

If you're billed through Roku, you still have HBO Now. Unfortunately, HBO Now no longer is no longer a thing on Android so you have to use HBO Max but they won't let you login to use it? Is there a workaround other than cancelling and setting up a new subscription?

I had to cast from a web browser to my Android TV to use it.

My Amazon HBO subscription expires on Jun 18. If AT&T hasn't made an agreement with Amazon or Roku by then, I might pick up a Chromecast to get us through until they do.
