DIRECTV unlikely to keep NFL Sunday Ticket

The game isn't tonight, and there's no indication it's because of the AG complaining. Leaving us with just you posting poo, as usual.
The move to air Friday’s game on both Prime Video and YES is largely a return to how things were before this year; in 2021, games were available via both Amazon’s streaming service and cable. Neither Amazon nor the AG’s office immediately responded to The Verge’s request for comment. The game is scheduled to start at 7PM ET on Friday.

Yeah, I read the article too, which is why I corrected the FUD. This states it's not tonight, nor is there sourcing that this change was made due to the AG's comments.

Lets see where it is around week 10 when its not the New thing anymore.

You make it sound like Thursday Night Football is a new thing. If it being on streaming pulls new viewers under any circumstances that would be a big win and counter to pretty much every detraction about streaming in this thread.

Like any game on SNF / MNF, it will depend more on the quality of matchups than anything else, if streaming is proven to not be a barrier for entry.

Exactly ...

But if Streaming doesn't bring in more fans, what is thier excuse going to be ?

If the NFL has a ton more viewers now because of Streaming, that will be one thing ...
Your never gonna be able to say, See, Streaming is getting more viewers that TV, because of match ups

This is why I said to wait till like week 11 or so and see if the newness of Streaming wears off, will people still be flocking to watch ....
And your right, the choice of games being shown has a lot to do with that as well, as for viewers, but not so much with the debate between Tv and Streaming.

"newness of Streaming"? :what

Do you think people are watching TNF on Amazon solely because it's streaming on Amazon? Or, are they football fans who are enjoying the quality production that Amazon has delivered?

Ratings were up 6% over the previous week, and up 37% over week 4 last year on NFLN.

And still no streaming deal announced for NFL sunday ticket...wonder what the hold up is
It was just posted here two weeks ago it properly will not be announced until the end of the year and you commented on that post.

The NFL is trying to get a few more $$$$ out of Apple by reaching out to other streaming companies, but no one else is bidding, either the price is too high or they do not wish to be used as pawns to get the price up on Apple.

This should be noted, only streaming services have given bids, not one Traditional Provider, no DirecTV, no Dish, no Comcast, etc.

That,

But also remember two things. The first three weeks of TNF under the old system, which is to say weeks 2, 3, and 4 of the season, were ONLY on NFL Network. Starting with week 5 the games were on Fox. Amazon is averaging 90% of what Fox got for the Fox games.

Further, the NFL front loaded Amazon’s schedule with teams that were successful last year and which have large fan bases. The three NFL Network games last year all featured teams that has losing records in 2020.

You won’t see posts about how Amazon beat the game from last year, now that we are in week 5 and thus the pattern of it getting about 90% of Fox’s average, or less as the spate of good games runs out and TNF becomes what it has always been. Your home for a game that were in on Sunday afternoon and there were 12 other games and you had 12 TVs, the one you wouldn’t show.

Not to mention..if for some reason they do get a good match up late in the season..they will switch the game out with a crappy one

Why would Traditional TV bid .... Its a for gone conclusion that it will go to a Streaming company, the NFL came out and said that already ....
While I think thats a mistake, I think they should have left it on Both, ,but they didn't ask me ... they would have made More money on Both.

Hmmm, whys that ?

Logistics (teams, venue, broadcasters, production teams), broadcast contracts, scheduling (every team plays on Thursday).

Unlike shifting a game a few hours one way or the other on the same day, it would be a massive change to move games multiple days (either direction). Even then, logistics for all involved requires nearly two weeks notice under existing procedures.

Flex scheduling is coming to MNF next year, but that's much more reasonable than changing a Thursday game.

They did it with Covid ....
If Flex scheduling is being done for MNF, you can count on it being done for TNF as well, on the next contract.
