So all of this and the DVR still does not work on AtSC 3 encrypted channels, even though the box itself does decode ATSC 3 signals (if connected to the internet)

The fact that the Zapperbox does not record encrypted ATSC 3 broadcasts should not surprise you. Broadcasters want the ability to control the recordings such as auto delete, eliminate commercial skip, or disable recording.
