I stopped watching when they showeda Florida toll booth staaffed by three model type women in clingy tops and hot pants. It was that I did not enjoy it but realism went out the window.
In all fairness, the average U.S. citizen is out-of-shape and over weight these days. I doubt too many viewers would appreciate seeing a gaggle of chubby schlubs in High Definition...

i don't doubt that but the plots have become an excuse to have models in skimpy outfits.

Well, if the OP wants realism, he could always watch survivor.

Or he could watch The First 48 on A&E.

For homicide detectives, the clock starts ticking the moment they are called. Their chance of solving a case is cut in half if they don't get a lead in The First 48™. Each passing hour gives suspects more time to flee, witnesses more time to forget what they saw, and crucial evidence more time to be lost forever.

The First 48™ follows detectives from around the country during these first critical hours as they race against time to find the suspect. Gritty and fast-paced, it takes viewers behind the scenes of real-life investigations with unprecedented access to crime scenes, autopsies, forensic processing, and interrogations.

It is the coolest show they ride along COPS style with homicide detecives in Miami and other cities.

Good point Dodge. We were watching the Robin Williams film RV, supposedly in Colorado. In twelve years I have never seen Colorado mountains like the one's they showed (filmed in B.C.) :D

You mean to tell me that a typical CSI doesn't just collect semen and blood samples from a crime scene...they are forensics experts in the lab, make wonderful assistants during an autopsy, often participate...no, make that lead a swat team into harms way, make outstanding homicide/vice/narcotics detectives, arrest their own suspects, experience daily gunplay and vehicular pursuits, frequency head multi-agency operations to include the FBI, ATF, CBP, ICE, etc., and occasionally participate in overseas foreign intelligence missions with the CIA?

Ok, I can believe all the above...however, the show loses all credibility when they attempt to portray the CSIs as being weapons experts too!

This why I don't watch the CSI shows....are they detectives, swat, or CSI? I mean do real CSI's even carry guns, go on investigations, and arrest suspects?

Did anyone see tonight's load of BS they tried to feed us?

Whan they matched bullets on the .223 and got a match they said it was from a Ruger 10-22. WHF writes this stuff? The Ruger 10-22 is a .22 rimfire cartridge, NOT a .223 centerfire cartridge! I could go on about the 10-22 ejecting spent shells to the right just above a persons right hand but you get the gist.

I'm done with this trash!

Dude serisouly it's a TV show..

Do you think the Generaly Lee actually survived even one of those jumps...

really..

If you want a real murder show then watch "the first 48 hours" or "Dr. G, Medical Examiner"

DNA is NOT used in every murder case. Do you think they have the time, money, and resources to do that? NO.
The little blue light thingy doesn't tell you if it's semen or mayonaise.
Fingerprints cannot be lifted off rough surfaces.

there are a million flaws with CSI, you should enjoy it for it's entertainment value. If you are going to pick it apart, it's not the show for you.

I think that the difference is that these shows at least pretend to be "realistic.'

No. Absolutely not. Crime Techs collect evidence. That's it. Then analysts in the lab analyze it; the data is turned over to the actual detectives and investigators.

Crime techs might have arrest powers, as peace officers, but that's all. CSI has created a world that while really interesting if it was real, simply isn't. Indeed, why do they even have the detectives in LVPD. Just leave it to Grissom and company. :D

As a criminal justice professor, this stuff drives me nuts, because you would be surprised how many students come to college thinking (initially anyways) that they want to be a CSI.

okay but what i like about the show is that i believe its suppose to be cheesy because the people they would be dealing with in miami are that way. okay, not all, but a bunch.

i've never taken this show seriously which is why i love it. okay, that and emily procter, all though i liked her better on the west wing. i'm an even a fan of TOG (which is how the last blue crew remember red).
