I admit I'm close to considering this flex pack just so I can get the business channels for discovering more companies to invest in and additional insights... getting all 3 in the news package is pretty nice (Bloomberg, CNBC, and Fox Business), and I'm getting all the science channels except...

I wish they'd take all sports channels, all of them, and put them in a separate pack. They are by far the highest cost of a typical bill and people who don't watch sports subsidize those who do basically.

greed is what's killing the TV industry. Whenever a company goes public it usually starts to go downhill, from there it all becomes about share price and the bottom line. Suddenly you need to provide all these shareholders 'value' .. cry me a river. Go ala carte and get the expensive sports...

ala carte is getting closer when one big network controls every channel and expects providers to bundle them ALL into their packages. :)

provide channel packages, such as a science package that has all the science related channels like national geo, food, tlc, animal planet, etc... since the largest expense comes from sports channels, they shouldn't be forcefully bundled into every package when some of us don't watch sports, or...

I would support 'packages' such as a science package or sports package.. give me planet green, national geo, travel, TLC, animal, food, investigation discovery, csi, etc. together in one package for one price... don't make me pay 4+ dollars a month alone from my bill just for ESPN. I don't care...

I sit about 6 feet from a 46 inch television and comparing dish and mediacom, mediacom's HD looks almost univerally better, less compression artifacts, crisper picture. Not sure how both would compare to directv. Dish still looks quite good, mediacom just looks better.. but mediacom's program...

it's time for cable operators and satellite providers to ditch SD channels. HD channels work fine for people with those ancient non-HD tube things, so let them linger in technological obscurity while we move forward as a society into what is the future.. HD and 3D. )

If I had it, I would ignore their calls and simply wait until the price of it went up, or it went dark. Never agree to anything, don't even take the call. You do that, you're instantly screwed. You play right into their hands by attempting to change packages before it goes dark.

going with mediacom as of next Tuesday.. gonna have to buy out my dish contract as I now live in an apartment where dish is impossible to get. Still, deal is pretty good... family cable and internet for 29.95 each for a year with a free HD box thrown in for HD access... normally those boxes run...

sounds like everyone's doing it right. Don't be polite about it. Insist on the unit you want. You're not obligated to anything until you sign that sheet after installation. I don't see the big deal about it really.

if they can't handle bringing in all locals in HD they shouldn't be forcing people to pay $5 per month to have them. $5 for 4 channels isn't much of a deal.
