I get the same message. If you use a laptop and get this message you're pretty much out of luck.

Interesting, I tried two times and all it did is restart with out upgrading.

I couldn't get my HD-21 to force a download last night. I'm guessing the reason being that it's out in shop and I don't have a phone connection.

Does it matter which model non-DVR you have? My non-DVR units are HD-20 and HD-21. I forced a download on the HD-20 last night but afterward it would not unlock the codes.

I have a Maxtor 300 gig drive that I picked up a year or so ago. It only has usb jack. Can I buy an esata cord and adapter to use this as an external drive for DVR? My DVR does not have a usb jack.
