HR34 not recording some shows, canceling series recordings on it's own

This exactly! DTV would be well served to add "New" to the 1st run of shows and then have the DVR's base their recording decisions based off of that tag.

HR34 not recording some shows, canceling series recordings on it's own

For us, Game of Thrones (which we set to record 1st run) will record tomorrow night, not tonight. Possibly it's a DTV programming issue to where it's not indicating that a show is new so the hr34 skips it? We have been missing several shows lately now that I think about it, and I just don't...

From "E" to "D" after nearly a decade!

I suppose I should qualify every PQ statement I make with the following disclaimer: "This pertains to my eyeballs, in my living room, on my 73" HDTV, with my HDMI cables attached to all devices." In other words, In my situation, the PQ on D* is much, much better than E* was. Very noticeable...

    HR34 MRV issues

All of the issues I have with D* are software related. And I have several. E* rarely gave any issues as far as software is concerned, and they were smart enough to make it so that an external hard drive (software unlock) was just that, EXTERNAL and used for ADDITIONAL storage. Isn't it D*...

    HR34 MRV issues

I have the HR34 and one H25. I get the Try Again issue when trying to watch stuff on the H25 ALL THE TIME! I have to reset the H25, which then means I have to change the sort order of the recorded items to A-Z again, and I have to search "30skip" again. It's quite annoying. Also, the HR34...

Looking to get a big external drive for the HR34 - help/advice please

Another concern that I have - is buying a 2Tb hard drive, and then D* updating firmware or whatever and then 3Tb or larger drives become compatible. Sidebar - it also makes ZERO sense to have the external drive kill off the internal drive. On my Dish ViP722 - the external hard drive was...

Looking to get a big external drive for the HR34 - help/advice please

$400?! LOL. See, that's what I don't understand. We have only had the DVR for 3 months or so. I don't know how to determine how many hours of recordings we have on there. But it doesn't seem like too terribly much.

Looking to get a big external drive for the HR34 - help/advice please

I can't even locate a manual for the HR34 and there isn't one in the box that it came in. What it's looking like, is I need to buy an internal 2 Tb Sata drive such as Amazon.com: Seagate Barracuda Green 2TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive ST2000DL003: Electronics and then...

Looking to get a big external drive for the HR34 - help/advice please

So the interface going out of the drive that connects to the HR34 needs to be Esata? In that case, I can't find a single Seagate drive that isn't USB 2.0 or 3.0 External Storage Solutions | Seagate

Looking to get a big external drive for the HR34 - help/advice please

Okay, so we are running through the storage provided by the internal hdd in the HR34 pretty quickly. We are at 30% free space right now and most tv series are just coming back online from the Christmas break off season. So it's just going to get filled up. I would like to get an external hard...

Potential new DirecTV customer Q: Is getting the Home Media Center and a HD DVR overkill?

Is that going to be changed at any point? Seems silly to have the capability of using an external drive, but at the expense of the internal drive! Right now the only thing that makes sense is a 2Tb external drive, and eSata drives that size are expensive.
