What I meant was, go to google and do a search trying to simply buy a Dish receiver. I tried it out just, and surprisingly, it was now easy. When I was last in the market for a new receiver Dish was runnning a scheme allowing people to set up websites (Dish did all the work) with their name...

Thus is why you should NEVER (see that word? let me repeat it - N E V E R) sign up with Dish or one of their rip-off affiliates. BUY the receiver, BUY the dish/LNB and install it yourself. It can be hard to locate someone selling the receivers due to Dish spamming the internet with ten million...

Ok, I have tried to make some sense of this in my mind, but fail miserably. The question: Why does best signal quality not necessarily coincide with maximum signal from a satellite. I am assuming that skew is correct.

Depending upon how you feel about doing the work of installing the stuff, I would seriously consider just buying the required components and installing yourself. I bought a VIP211 to replace my 811, and a Dish 1000. Dropping the 211 in place of the 811 is trivial, just needs a call to TECH...

What makes you say this? Its no more difficult that any other install (unless you insist on trying to use a Dish 1000).
