Dish lied to get a new contract

I only wish other companies had 'internet response teams' like Dish. MaryB has helped me numerous times. Phil

    Upgrade to 722 or 922?

We COULD go back to the old days, I guess, where we just took our home receiver in the RV. With our first DVR we often didn't even set the dish up, just watched a few recordings... after all, we were "camping"! I'd save $120 a year! I'll give it some thought. Phil

    Upgrade to 722 or 922?

It can't be TOO much against their policy! We've had a separate RV receiver for over a decade. A year ago when we installed an HD TV in the trailer, Dish upgraded our RV receiver to the 612 for a $3 monthly increase (either dual tuner or DVR or HD, can't remember) . Since it was SD to HD they...

    Upgrade to 722 or 922?

I gave the Hopper a thought when I was looking at Dish's website. Looks like it'll jump over commercial breaks but only on the networks and only during prime time... did I misinterpret something? I don't know what PTAT is. My DIRT member even said she figured that because we like the 612 in...

    Upgrade to 722 or 922?

Can you specify to Dish whether you want a 722 or 722K? Do you gotta pay for that module for the 722K? I get only PBS and CBS on antenna so there's little value in the two-OTA module since I also get the channels via Dish. The only time I even look at OTA is when there are problems with...

    Upgrade to 722 or 922?

The other replies appeared while I was replying to navychop. Thank you. I have a 612 that is our RV receiver. We'd have had to turn it off to get a Hopper. Our housesitters like having Dish while we are "camping" and it's easier to leave both connected anyway. And we already have a 1TB...

    Upgrade to 722 or 922?

Thanks, navychop, that's the answer my wife wanted to hear. I was figuring on the 722 but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. The 922 has an even larger hard drive and 'improved GUI' but I really have no complaints about the capacity of our 622 since we have an EHD. And the 722...

    Upgrade to 722 or 922?

I'm upgrading from a VIP622. If I get a 722 my monthly bill stays the same. A 922 will raise my bill by $4 a month. Sling will not be used. At all, ever. Is the 922 worth the extra $48 per year? Phil

Making new remote work with older receiver

Of course, now I'm back to feeling stupid again. At least I didn't have to spend an hour on the phone trying to understand British to get the problem solved! I wish EVERY company had an Internet Response Team!! Phil

Making new remote work with older receiver

THANKS MATT!! That fixed it! It was set to UHF and I was programming in IR. Phil

Making new remote work with older receiver

Thanks, jawxx I feel much less dumb now! I've PM'd a DIRT member and we'll get it resolved. Fortunately, it's an RV receiver, not used regularly, AND 80% of the old remote's buttons usually work. I don't have the UHF antenna on the receiver since I'm always in sight for IR. Phil

Making new remote work with older receiver

That didn't work either. The 612 IR addrss is set to "1" and I tried setting the remote to "1", both ways (IR and UHF, swapping the little piece at the bottom from TV1 to TV2 then back). The remote says 21.1 IR/UHF PRO with a p/n 186371. I had no idea this would be difficult. The one I...

Making new remote work with older receiver

Just tried that with no success. Everything worked as you describe except that the remote still doesn't operate the receiver. Phil

Making new remote work with older receiver

I got a replacement remote for my 612 but forgot how to sync it to the receiver. I did this earlier this year with a new remote for my 622 and I remember pushing system info on the receiver and something on the remote at the same time. Can someone please remind me how? Phil
