NBA’s new TV Deal looks to go to Streaming

This is almost over and for Warner, looks like they are not part of the new agreement- The NBA is formalizing written contracts with Disney, NBC and Amazon this week, with sources calling it the final stage of media rights negotiations that may inevitably lead incumbent Warner Bros. Discovery...

    Auto Racing 2024

Monaco... Indy... the 600? All in one day?! Well, maybe a couple. Indy is looking like it has a good shot at raining. While we wait for Sunday, here is an Indy moment. Indy Lights 2013. The last lap is a little easier to pull off with the smaller engines and slower speeds, but still that was...

Anyone here interested in tough, long-lasting vehicles?

I would sure hesitate to buy a turbo anything, given the reliability issues of air pumps spinning that fast. On the other hand, it works for the M1.

Teardown video/photos of Hopper 3 or similar receivers

The descriptive phrase that applies here is "typically exotic". We are all typically exotic around here. Just look at our backgrounds; what a bunch! I'm an electronics hobbyist, though that's not my education. Even though I haven't built anything in 20 years, I sure did before (went nuts...

    Switching

I'm running 8 dishes, both C & Ku and I've been experiencing an issue switching between satellites. When it happens, it can take as much as 20 seconds for it to switch to another dish. I have the receiver set to send the switch code twice. I changed the switch, ran a new feed line to the...

Too Late To Join the C-Band Game?

Can you financially justify? Probably not. Now it's all about the passion of wanting to experiment and receive satellite signals. It's a hobby. Trying to financially justify hobbies is a losing game. ADDED: Over at Rick's, somebody is offering for FREE a beautiful set of dishes and equipment...

Too Late To Join the C-Band Game?

You also have to take into consideration the additional cost of installing those filters as well due to 5G interference. If the dish at your location directly faces a 5G tower, you might also have to build a Faraday contraption. That's why I wouldn't personally opt for one, but I'll let the...

    Dish Derusting Continues

Hi all, Back in April I discussed the rusting LNB arm on my C Band dish. I’m now in the process of repairing that with a small patch. However upon the annual spring inspection of my Tek2000 dish, I noticed some pretty serious rusting at the base of the pole. It wasn’t this bad when I did my...

Should you build your electronics into a cabinet?

I have this conversation about once a week, and I’ve had it hundreds of times in the last 30 years or so. It goes like this: This is one of the biggest problems with consumer electronics that no one talks about. It’s not new, either. I remember it from the late 1980s. A wealthy fellow hired me...

    Its TEAM SUMMIT week!

I find it highly annoying if dish techs are still required to sell items. When I got my receiver upgraded to the Hopper 3 last week, that tech didn't try to upsell anything. He was nice, informative, replaced the dish outside, Hopper and Joeys and left. Did they finally stop the upselling...

Too Late To Join the C-Band Game?

Someone in my vicinity has listed a C-band dish for free on the marketplace and I am considering taking up that offer, however, I'm uncertain if it justifies the effort of renting a truck, driving for several hours to retrieve it, and then installing it at my home.

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

The LA market is a big MAINLY, probably take, at least, a billion or more for the entire metro area. But if Dish/Echostar does finish those three markets, should get them to the 75% they have to be at next summer.

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

Just saw this and thought I would share it here... A lot of folks keep thinking that IF DISH files for Bankruptcy, that there will be no more DISH. I keep trying to explain that Bankruptcy is not necessarily a bad thing. In many cases it is a smart business move. So here is a note from Red...

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

The towers are mainly done for most of the country. If I had to guess the issue is with the backhaul. People want to do a speedtest on their phones and see they are getting 600 meg down, not do a speedtest and see they are only getting 11 down. The promise of 5G (from everyone) has not...

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

Cost money to deploy and install it I guess and they don't have the money to finish out the cell phone towers and owe for debts that they can't pay. So why try to start anything else.

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

I wouldn't say that. I just hope they would get stuff in gear, after all the stuff is already out there and is sitting there basically unused.
