    Anik G1 FAQ

As far as I am aware Shaw Broadcast/Shaw Direct does not have any plans in place to transition the HD signals on Anik F1R and F2 to MPEG-4 (except for Anik F1/TR1). The new HD signals from Corus Entertainment, Shaw Media and Bell Media will likely be on Anik G1 along with additional locals in...

Shaw Direct to add Space HD and Drop HDNet

Shaw Direct will add Space HD to it's HD line-up on March 20, 2012. On the same day HDNet will be terminated from the line-up. Space HD will likely be added to the HD Extra and HD Extra Lite package.

    More Shaw Media channels

CHMI (Citytv) Winnipeg is coming back sometime before September along with several other locals. Shaw and Bell have to make several more locals available by September 1, 2011. Transponder 15 on Anik F1 will be converted to 8PSK in a few months. At the same time the Seattle locals will be...

Shaw Direct Moving 6 More Channels to 8PSK Modulation

Nobody even knows if FreeHD will ever launch. I think what many people here are posting is just wishful thinking. Shaw will NOT sell or shut down Shaw direct/Shaw Broadcast until their system is unprofitable. Shaw Cable is still years away from having fiber delivery accross all their...

Shaw Direct Moving 6 More Channels to 8PSK Modulation

I honestly think it will be the biggest mistake ever if Shaw Direct migrates to MPEG-4 before they can launch a MPEG-4/DVB-S2 capible DVR. I can't see many DVR530 owners going to a receiver only option (even if it's free).

Shaw Direct Moving 6 More Channels to 8PSK Modulation

The questions is, what are they going to do about the DSR530 owners? They have already gotten the shaft so much lately. Are they really going to migrate to MPEG-4 before a replacement MPEG-4/DVB-S2 capible DVR is realesed? Judging by their traffic plans right now, it doesn't look like...

Accessing files on a Motorola DVR530 HD satellite receiver hard drive

The only way to offload all the programs in HD off that hard drive is to purchase a very expensive upgrade that adds a firewire port. I forget what company does this but IIRC the cost is about $500+ and it's not support by StarCHoice, so if your receiver fries, you're up the creek.

    WGN-HD on StarChoice

StarChoice charges a $4.99 multiple receiver fee that can include up to 5 additional receivers. The fee is waived if you have Ultimate Choice or higher.

    New HD coming to BellExpressVU

Also keep in mind that there is a large customer base in Quebec in comparison to StarChoice (Canada's other Satellite provider). Given the fact that Videotron and Cogeco are big competitors to Bell, it's no surprise that they are trying to keep up on french HD offerings.

NHL CI + NFL ST combo $199

I doubt it. They have to compete with Rogers, Cogeco and Videotron out east, all of which offer a "Super Sports Package" for about $28.00 month and include NHL, MLB, NFL, NCAA, Nascar and OHL (Videotron has NHL, MLB and NFL). It will likely be the same price or just a few dollars more per...

    SC HD channel relocation

Not everyones receivers will change on the same date. I'd imagine that the new v-code will be added when your receiver is updated with the new interactive software. From what I understand, this will starting happing the morning of July 15th.

If you buy Sony, you buy obsolecence!

I purchased both formats and I'm quite happy with both of them. I have about 15 HD-DVD's and about 20 Blu-Ray discs.

    SC & NHL settle differences

I don't think there will be any HD games in the Centre Ice package itself. I think the 200 game count comes from the total games on TSN, CBC, ABC and NBC.

The new channel mappings will go out to customers on July 5 2007. The HD channel range will be 002 - 089 The audio channels will be from 090-199 I'm not sure why they are moving the audio channels.

SatelliteGuys.US Bell ExpressVU Uplink Activity Report - Week Ending 04/07/2007

Hey chevy, I am the webmaster of the above website. There most definately is some information missing from the Bell ExpressVU line-ups. I have a hard time keeping up with Bell ExpressVu and Cogeco because they never post their entire line-up accurately and as I'm sure you are aware, there...

    SC to start 8PSK HD

    SC to start 8PSK HD

I have a feeling that Shaw Broadcast will likely fully implement 8PSK on all HD channels by the end of 2007. There really isn't that many major cable systems sourcing from Shaw Broadcast. It's mainly independent systems out west and a select few out east. Rogers, Videotron, Cogeco and...

This is not correct. Starting in January Discovery HD, A&E HD, Showcase HD and National Geographic HD will be in a new HD Plus package at $4.99. I would imagin that a subscription to Digital Favourites is required or you must have Primetime in order to get A&E and Showcase I don't think...

    Very Early Canadian Satellite Info.

I remember when Bell and StarChoice launched, they both uses Anik E2. Bell had more national transponders so they were able to offer more channel nation wide, while StarChoice had more regional transponders and thus channel selection was more limited.
