    Just ordered HR24

Anyone have any feedback on using a cavalry drive with the HR24? I understand that they work well on the HR20-HR22. I bought a new one to connect my new HR24, but it doesn't see it. Speaking of which... is there an easy way to see if an external drive is connected?

    HR2x / R22 CE Release for 9/26

Just to be clear, I am using an HR20-100 with an Seagate Free Agent 750GB. I was running the national release when I downloaded 0281. Upon further inspection, the entire receiver was reset -- recorded programs wiped , prioritizer emptied, and even my favorites lists deleted. My second...

    HR20-100 & 700 National Software Release's 0x1EA

So, I am just curious... does anyone that is experiencing issues with the HR20's responses (slow to respond or no response) have their HR20 attached to an Ethernet connection? My HR20 behaves poorly (lethargic guide, slow response to remote button commands, hanging for several seconds when...

    HR20 -700 & -100 CE Release 1/25 & 1/26 0x1F4

Since getting my HR20 in October, the only thing I've missed about my Time Warner Cable DVR (and I do mean the only thing) was that when you reached the end of a program, you HAD to make a choice (delete or keep). I hate that. With the TWC box, I could rewind and rewatch the end if I wanted or...

    HR20-100 & 700 National Software Release's 0x1EA

30-Second Slip (Keyword: 30SLIP) - This is the default option. When activated (using the "->|" button), the viewer is "slipped" foward while showing the content that is being passed (at about FF x4) and the screen shows a progress bar to illustrate the movement. 30-Second Slip takes about 1-2...

8300 Scientific HD box using HDMI

As far as I recall, TWC's box disable the analog (component and RCA) ports when the digital (HDMI) port is active. You could connect your LCD with component and VHS via RCA.

Food Network HD just showed up

For the record, I have an HR20-100S. It's not in the guide and I'm not able to go there by entering the suggested channel number (I get "channel not available"). I'm so jealous of the folks who are watching it in HD, though. :) Can't wait to see it - it's why I got DirecTV last week!!!

Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD DVR Questions

While it won't tell you how much "record time" you have (that would be too easy, right?), if you are more technically inclined you can see space utilization on an 8300HD running Passport. To do it, go to channel "999" and then scroll down to "DVR AVFS". I am currently using 137.1 GB with 13.4...

    Anyone use CableCard with TWC?

Hey folks! I'm giving serious looks to the new Tivo HD DVR. I want to get two CableCards, but I'm curious how TWC charges for those. I know that the cards, themselves, are $1.75/mo (in this market). Does anyone know if they'll charge me for an additional digital outlet or anything like...

    8300hd Hdmi

I don't know if it is related, but in this area the 8300HD enforces HDCP pretty strictly. Do you know if you TV supports HDCP? Here, if the HDCP is present but fails to negotiate, I get a HUGE black screen covering the entire display with a message to switch to component. I've never plugged...

    Available DVR storage

Do you know what software you are running? I'm running Passport and can find the information by going to channel 999 and going down to the DVR info pages (I can't remember what they are called off my head). They are near the bottom of my list.

I am going to infer from your post that eSATA is NOT supported currently on the SA8300HD. Wow. Bummer. I was about to add some space to my chronically cramped DVR.

    RoadRunner Alternatives

Hey, sorry for the delayed response. So, Clearwire worked very well. It had solid performance and no problems with reliability. If you are noting the verbs in past tense, I had to cancel my Clearwire service. The only real problem with Clearwire was the one that I initially feared --...
