OTA + IPTV + FTA in one box. Build or buy? Help

Nor would I place any credence on what you have to say. You clearly don't know how to make tvheadend transcode on the fly, and looking at your prior posts you've stated a preference for LNBFs over LNBs, plus stated you don't know how to connect an LNB to a DVB tuner. No wonder you've had...

OTA + IPTV + FTA in one box. Build or buy? Help

Out of date info. The 5927 has a fan. Couldn't disagree more, it makes a great frontend, even runs well for me on a $10 Raspberry Pi Zero W.

    How do I get started

I'd seriously try to get both Pinnacles. The one for the H-H mount, but ditch the buttonhook and use the 4 arm support from the other, Plus you have spare parts that are hard to come by.

OTA + IPTV + FTA in one box. Build or buy? Help

There are some other ways too. I do a scrape of zap2it.com and tvheadend pulls in that data, I did set it to 14 days but might be able to do even more, I never checked that. Can be done with USB/PCI tuners or HDhomerun which also integrates into tvheadend. I haven't gotten to it just yet but my...

OTA + IPTV + FTA in one box. Build or buy? Help

I'm glad I made the switch from STBs to computers. So much more versatile/customizeable, plus the ability to upgrade/add as many tuners as you'd like. I use Linux/tvheadend with USB ATSC and DVB-S2 tuners feeding multiple Kodi clients on my network. The backend can be done on low end PC...

C-Band Orthomode Feed and LNB question

5000 series are PLL. If you really want 8115 they can be had on ebay.

    Manhattan's Future 4K Receiver Discussion

I don't get it. I had a Quali-TV STB that did 4.2.2 like 12 years ago. Still here boxed up in a closet with the other old relics. After all this time I'd expect every new STB to have that capability. I guess yet another thing to make me glad I switched to DVB cards and no longer have these...

OK then. Setting the bar REALLY low.

    New Toy

I've been using a Pi 3 to handle all my USB tuners lately. A little getting used to the kernel building procedures for the platform but no huge deal. Plugged it into my Kill-a-watt and while tuning/streaming a 4K channel plus compiling a kernel at the same time, it still only pulls 6W.

Setting for ANIK F2 Fortec 90

OK then, well it's clear your azimuth is WAY off. You're in a location where 97W is your southernmost satellite but right now you're pointing to the east of true south for a satellite which is significantly farther west than your location. You need to try azimuth 201.6 for 111.1W.

Setting for ANIK F2 Fortec 90

That can't be your longitude/latitude in Florida, in fact it is virtually on top of me, like 3 miles away.

    transponder question on 99W C-band

Seeing 15.4dB SNR for 3845, 10.7dB for 3811. 10 foot Unimesh, ortho feed with Norsats. Quite a difference.

    Norsat Lnb's

You're never going to get the same performance form a C/Ku feed that you'll get from a C band only feed. At this point with all the 16 and 32APSK and the performance demands they impose I'd never again consider a C/Ku feed unless the dish was larger than 12 feet.

    OTHER Receiver question

Most of the good free content is on C band. I've used many of the Dreambox receivers and still feel they are the best ones, but made the transition to PCs with tuners and find them to be far more versatile/capable than any receiver.

    Forum Changes ??

A whole lot of the C band discussion is about hardware that only applies to C band.

70W Star One C4 in Texas

I gave it a try tonight. 70W I see nothing on C band. 65W I see some transponders but they are all weak.

Need SatelliteGuys Assistance for C-band Feedhorn Alignment Tool Project

I have something similar I ratholed after finding it on ebay at least a decade ago. This one fits inside the feed, so I could never use it with the corotor but I may be able to with the c band orthogonal feed I have now. Box says Precision Satellite Service 1-800-HOT-DISH. LOL

    OTHER TBS6902 vs TBS6983

Not really. X has been client/server since its inception in the 80s. I don't have an X server installed in my tvheadend box, in fact it doesn't even have a monitor. Just install an X server on whatever remote device you want to use for display, then when running X clients on your Tvheadend box...

How far away do you guys have your dish's from the receivers?

I'd have a computer with DVB-S2 tuners, which could even be something low powered like a Raspberry Pi. Run Tvheadend on it. Run a twisted pair out there to that location from the house. Anything over 100M is too long for ethernet but you can use a VDSL2 to ethernet bridge on each end to get...

    linear/circular polarity question

The Chaparral international feed does both linear and circular C band, as well as linear Ku. Been using one for years to get those atlantic circular birds, I didn't want something that required me to remove/install a slab.

This is exactly where the Quali comes in handy. I use it to watch the backhaul every race.

Now getting c band on my 1.2 meter dish!

You can buy the correct C band arms and feedclamp for this dish through Dow electronics, and they aren't very expensive.

FTA Receiver that runs a BUD by itself?

I have one of those in the closet. Echostar, Manhattan, and Topfield have also made receivers that will control booth an actuator and polarizer.
