DirecTV to Launch Significantly Viewed DMA service

Ok, assuming she is correct that I will be allowed to subscribe to locals out of KC (except KMBC)...why would I be excluded from subcribing to the HD Locals (except KMBC) when they are rolled out? They don't make this very easy. :) KMBC-DT just happens to be one of them I actually get...

    Churn and Burn!

Thank you...I don't really see the point of getting the HD-DVR right now if I want to eventually have the MPeg4 HD-DVR.

DirecTV to Launch Significantly Viewed DMA service

I have been emailing back and forth with KQ2's station manager a bit, and she says I should be able to get all the KC Locals with the exception of the ABC affiliate, KMBC...I was not aware of this, and this was not the case when I moved here. I really want to find out about this because I'm...

DirecTV to Launch Significantly Viewed DMA service

I guess my question is this...is there ANYTHING I can do to fight this? I wrote my senators/representatives about it last year...heard nothing about it.

Albany isn't in this DMA... Literally, KQ2 appears to be the bad guy here.

    Churn and Burn!

Ok, next silly question...what will the new MPEG-4 HD-DVR's cost under this program? I seem to have missed that. I'd like to take my Samsung 360 and place it sufficiently in someone at Directv's rectum.

    Churn and Burn!

Seriously, what does DirecTv think this is going to do to their business? There is no way I'm paying 500 bucks up front for something I have to give back...

DirecTV to Launch Significantly Viewed DMA service

So basically, you are telling me that this po-dunk ABC affiliate is what is holding me up? Why can the cable company carry the KC Locals, but not satellite? I know the newspaper and cable company in St. Joe are owned by the same company...now I wonder if they also own KQ2.

DirecTV to Launch Significantly Viewed DMA service

64506, 50-60 miles from the antenna... KQ2 is likely the root of this problem. OTA reception is marginal, at best. FYI, St. Joseph, MO is pretty much hell on earth...in more ways than one.

    Churn and Burn!

I'm only affected if I want an HD-DVR, right? Think I'm kicking myself for not keeping up on this stuff the last month or 2? I want an HD-DVR badly... I can't see how they think this will make them competitive....I've been mistaken for an employee of DirecTv over the years as much as I...

    Churn and Burn!

Can someone please answer a couple of simple questions for me... 1. If I go "buy" an HD-DVR at BB today and hook it up..do I own it? 2. If I shut off the equipment I know I own now...but then re-activate, do I own it? This "lease" program has me looking seriously at Cable for the first...

DirecTV to Launch Significantly Viewed DMA service

This should affect Saint Joseph, MO...we are on the edge of the Kansas City DMA, but satellite services aren't allowed to carry the KC locals...St. Joe has one teeny little ABC affiliate. Can someone explain why this rule won't cover this?
