My alignment is a smide off...help!

Thanks so much for the replies, guys. I love this forum! I tinkered with it more yesterday, with your suggestions. I did figure out a big problem I was having. I noticed the "rust ring" around the polar mount where it sits on the pole was exposed on the backside. I placed my magnetic...

    big old satelite dish

I agree with everyone here. If you're after that one premium cable channel that you watch everyday (ESPN, HBO, Nickelodeon, etc) you won't find it with that satellite dish, call DirecTV. However, if you're looking for something you can't get on cable (random sports and news feeds without...

    WSI 6foot dish

Figure out what your true south satellite is, that should be your zenith (or middle) point. Peak that on C first then Ku. That should get you in the arc, then your actuator should do the rest, although you may need to do some fine tuning for the ends. That being said, if you set that, and you...

My alignment is a smide off...help!

Hey guys! It's been a while since I've been around, been busy working and such. I'm looking to get my BUD ready for preseason NFL and pursuing college football action that is coming up. I had the afternoon off yesterday, so in the intense 90 degree heat and South Carolina humidity, I lugged...

Contest: Enter To Win a New And Improved GEOSATpro 90cm / 36" Offset Satellite Dish

I would like to own a GEOSATpro 90cm dish to watch these channels, whatever college sports feeds on any Ku satellite between 72W and 127W because I would put it on a motor.

is my dmx741 worth my time?

I've been using my DMX741 for almost a year now on my 10 footer. It works great, especially for the money! If you're hardcore about milking every signal strength point you can get, then a pair of commercial grade C-band LNBs would be the way to go. But for your typical enthusiast, I don't see...

analog recievers on c-band and installation question

I agree, digital is the way to go, it's a no brainer. Like stated previously there's next to nothing on analog...literally. A handful of channels, and a few feeds every now and then. I don't even know if I'd waste $50 on one considering that with a little searching and elbow rubbing you're...

    NASA TV is moving

Yes. Regular ol' 4:2:0 SD for the four channel mux, and 4:2:0 HD for the occasional HD content (which is 99% of the time only on for the shuttle launches and landings) which is the 5th channel in the mux when it is on. The HD content looks AMAZING, even with it being on a mux. I recorded the...

    NASA TV is moving

I'm gonna go with they're doing away with two feeds as well. I do agree I wish they'd put a feed up on Ku as well simply to give more people access to their programming. But I'm not paying the bill so my opinion doesn't carry much weight :) I guess we'll wait and see how it all plays out.

Can the Azbox talk to UPNP or DLNA hosts

I've been wondering this myself. But in the network options, all I can find is where it can connect to Windows shares. Which can "get you by" but it's not as nice as UPnP/DLNA.

I've been BANNED from DBS Talk!

I've visited there a few times. I found the content pretty boring and outdated. This site has much more and better information, I feel like I can get my "education" here haha.

A minor request from your FTA moderator

Tony, Thanks for sharing those thoughts with us. My grandparents have had their share of health problems this year and have had stints in the hospital so I know what you're going through. It's tough but keep your head up, and trust the medical staff and the abilities God has given them. I...

    HITS programming...

The 922 is a great receiver and is much more "flexible" than the 410 in that, like Iceberg said, it can be used to watch much more programming 410, including the generics, also known as "zero key" feeds (once you activate the receiver you can view these). It also does analog, the 410 is digital...

Can I get C band with a Ku dish

I agree with the previous posters. Since I've had my C-Band dish setup, I barely watch anything on Ku anymore, except maybe a sports feed on the weekends. "Can" you get C-Band on G16 on a 90cm on 1m dish? Eh, maybe a couple channels when the weather is good. It's one of those things you...

    6 Foot expansion panels possible?

All good points. Eh, me personally, I rather spend the time I would invest into making my dish bigger, into looking around for another bigger dish :) And then I'd have two dishes.

    6 Foot expansion panels possible?

First off congrats on the new dish. Looks like you have a fine collection growing there :up As far as adding extension panels, I remember reading a thread here where this was discussed previously. Thanks to Google, I found it...

FTA bitrate vs Dish or DTV?

The previous post are correct. There's a HUGE difference between the raw HD feeds versus DirecTV/DISH. Your average consumer won't notice a difference considering they've never seen what a master HD feed looks like. Actually, they'll say that DirecTV looks better than their cable company's HD...

TVland gone bye bye now too?

My guess would be so they can pack more data into less space? For HD junkies, I'm hoping this would mean better quality. But given "HD-lite" seems to be the trend, I'm guessing it means adding more channels, not enhancing quality. Oh, how I love watching those master HD wild feeds on my...

TVland gone bye bye now too?

CoreAVC is an H.264 decoder for Windows, which you can get from coreavc.com. They have a free trial, but the full version of $14.95. I've tried it on DVBDream, and it is actually the best I've used as far as CPU percentage goes for this high bitrate HD streams. You could actually use some...

    new owner of a GI 4dtv 922

The unit ID from the "inside" of the unit, meaning pulling it from the menu (options -> 6 -> 5) and not just the sticker on the back. With these 4DTV units, if the internal battery dies and the unit loses power, it will lose it's unit ID and you won't be able to use it to subscribe to services...
