Any Engineers? can a H-H Actuator be built out of Grainger parts?

Didn't see your post first time through. I looked all over that site and didn't find any email contact. I don't use twitter or any of that stuff. He connected a 2A controller to a power supply that could provide 10A> Don't know the pull on that motor he used. Looks like he was doing something...

Any Engineers? can a H-H Actuator be built out of Grainger parts?

I have the DSI Sg2100 rotor and is modded and uses an external power supply, but it only runs at the speed when fed high V vs Low v from the tuner and is still way too slow for my taste. I want it to go between any two sats within ~1-2 seconds. That is just not possible with stock motor/gearing.

Any Engineers? can a H-H Actuator be built out of Grainger parts?

I wanted to build my own rotor for my small dish mainly because off the shelf units are so slow. They have to use small motors because they are assumed to depend on the tuner for power. But I have an outlet close to the dish. I wanted to make one that could do the full sweep in a couple seconds...

    SG2100 motor control board repair.

I know this is an old thread. I have this same motor and it has gotten flaky about going one direction. My first thought was a bad relay. But when testing running it while open, I found the one relay clicks only faintly when the motor doesn't move and loud when it does. I can feel the snap...

    multi-tuner dvb-s2 cards

A nexus-s works great for dvb-s, but it can't do anything with dvb-s2. So the money spent on hardware video decoding is now wasted. Get a card that can tune more stuff, then let something else deal with the video streams once you get them. an 8400 based on the 98 chip or a 9400 can do 1080i and...

    multi-tuner dvb-s2 cards

Too little too late, and given how long they've been working on it. Only supports 1080i where most new TV's will support 1080p. While looking for my new TV, NONE where 1080i. They where all ether 720p or 1080p and my new Sony KDL-32EX710 doesn't even support 1080i on the HDMI ports according to...

Taking photo of dish and I got a UFO

That small/far away, it's not likely you would have heard it. Here in the desert we have a number of small insects that could show up like that, a cicada for example, about an inch long. But it's the wrong time of year for any of them.

    putting up ku motor.

Just a thought about the wire if you get a lot of sun shine. When looking at wire I found white is not UV protected, Black is as a general rule. I have no idea about blue, but if it doesn't have UV protection, the sun makes quick work of it. I ran some white awhile back and it lasted 9 months...

New FTA service with 20 english channels

They seem to have picked an unknown company who doesn't even have a product out yet. When you click products, it only list 1 and that is "coming soon". Not a very good choice.

    Standard vs Universal vs Circular...

When I look at the lyngsat tp list, I often see TP's that are just below the listed range of "standard". That doesn't mean standard won't get them.

Just a thought, while most think black is the hotest color absorbing the most, it's not. Green is.

    Standard vs Universal vs Circular...

I would go universal over standard, but not worry about circular for now. You are more likely to need a universal then a circular since circular seems to be the realm of the propriatary/pay.

    zero position on SG2100

Mine has weep holes along the bottom edge and no seal. But the top shell should shed any outside water around the unit. Even where it comes together the top overlaps the bottom lip so water would not run in. What you want to see is if the board is getting wet and if so, how. Also look for signs...

    zero position on SG2100

I had my 2100 apart and it has a small round object on the back side of the motor, likely magnetic. They use HALL effect to detect rotation. It has nothing to tell where center is. If it misses pulses, it would be off and stay off. Most micro controllers have some sort of flash or eeprom to...

Multiple motorized dishes from the same receiver?

I think you would be talking fiber for ethernet to handle the data from an LNB. That said there are LNB's now that are connected by fiber instead of cable. But you would still need to run copper to power the lnb.

If money was not a concern...

It's called monopoly. But VDR and MythTV can do a lot. VDR is more DVB friendly while MythTV is more for storing photos, home movies and such. VDR can work with many ATSC and DVB-S/2 cards and there is an IPTV plugin. You can't easly use Hulu yet with it though like you can with MythTV :(. But...

If they do a proper testing/checkout on the referb, then $90 is a good deal and there is a plugin for vdr to use them.

Multiple motorized dishes from the same receiver?

But isn't there a problem of putting switches ahead of motors because they can't pass the needed current to run the motor? Unless you do the motor mod

    Coax/AC question

The 60Hz from the ac can be a problem with OTA antennas when trying to get analog. But the big advantage of digital is resistance to RF interferance. It's big hangup with ATSC is it seems to have more problems with multi path. Not a problem with a hard line.

If you were buying your first KU band dish all over again...

Exactly, I did the mod. A wall transformer with a LM7818 and some caps to to provide regulated 18v. I could have gone 20, but 18 is the highest normally sent up and I didn't know what the limit was for the motor. didn't want to burn it out. But does still move very slow. It's just too small a...
