    Question about OTA module

I'm in the Phoenix area with an antenna in my attic that was there when I bought the house. Using the Hopper OTA module I get Tucson stations fairly well. Channel 18 is usually pretty good but does suffer dropouts at times. I'm actually splitting the antenna signal to two hopper OTAs, so if I...

Video/audio freezing on Joey when connected to a specific hopper

I saw this exact symptom as the hard drive in my HWS was failing. After the drive failed for good, the video to attached Joeys paused for about 5 seconds every 30 seconds or so. I think the Joey video is very dependent on buffering by the hard drive for smooth playback. If you've ever...

    Replace Hopper Internal Drive?

Update: Received the Seagate ST2000VM003 yesterday and installed it in about 5 minutes. Powered up and after downloading the guide the DVR works perfectly now. Attached Joey's now work again without choppy video. Thanks for all the input.

    Replace Hopper Internal Drive?

Well I opened up one of the dead HWS and the drive is indeed a Seagate ST2000VM003. Bought one for around $80. Will replace it when it arrives and see how it goes. For me this option is just simpler and more convenient. I'll let you know how it works.

    Replace Hopper Internal Drive?

Thanks everyone. I'll check with DIRT on the cheapest way to proceed. I'd still like to replace the drives myself, depending on the drive cost. I've had trouble in the past with 622/722s getting refurbed units back with tuner problems and rebooting problems. I also don't know if I will have...

    Replace Hopper Internal Drive?

I've got two HWS, both purchased and out of warranty, with hard drive failures. I'm thinking of opening one up to see if I can replace the hard drive. But I thought I'd ask if there are any special records or signatures Dish puts on the drives that make a simple replacement impossible before...

Running a Joey off WiFi and need help....

I'm using Netgear model XWN5001 at my router and XAV5201 in my garage. I wanted wifi in my garage but my ASUS router was too far away and research into extending wifi range came up with less than satisfactory answers. Netgear has other models if you just want an Ethernet port on the garage end...

Running a Joey off WiFi and need help....

I've had pretty good luck for the past year with netgear power line Ethernet adapters for about a 100 foot run from my router to my garage.

Hey Joey Linking Experts!! This Should Have Been Simple. NOT!!!

I had a similar problem. Did a chat with tech support and they found some kind of authorization problem. The tech reauthorized everything and now both of my Joeys can easily and quickly link to either hopper. Took just a few minutes minutes total. Might be worth a try.

Joey not linking to my hopper.

Had this same issue after my install. DIRT took a look at my account and found some glitch with the authorizations on the account. Since they reauthorized everything the problem has not returned. Took about 2 minutes for DIRT to fix it.

Joey links to hopper but no signal.

Had a similar problem. Contacted DIRT and there was some sort of authorization problem with my account. 30 seconds after DIRT reauthorized, problem was gone and has stayed gone.

    129 signal strength on 622 versus 722

Thanks. I bought all my VIPs so I would just buy three hoppers. Using a third hopper is easier than running a cable to the detached garage. Can I use an EHD to transfer programs from the VIPs to the hoppers?

    129 signal strength on 622 versus 722

Thanks guys. This weekend I'm going to try swapping the receivers, but I've been looking around and think its time to upgrade everything to hopper. My account has 3 VIP receivers on it. 1 622 in the garage on its own 1000 antenna, and the 622 and 722 on the house 1000 antenna. As I...

    129 signal strength on 622 versus 722

Run length is only about 40 feet and pretty equal to both receivers. There is no excess cable. I should mention that these receivers have both been operating fine for years. The 722 recently stated pixelating and so I checked the signal strength and found it lower than normal and lower than...

    129 signal strength on 622 versus 722

I'm not sure of the designation. It's one of the earlier ones with a large dual 110/119 lnb assembly and a single 129 lnb connected to the 110/119 lnb. There are two ports on the 110/119 lnb for receiver connections.

    129 signal strength on 622 versus 722

There are two ports available on the lnb. One feeds each receiver. I have swapped them but the problem remains with the 722 receiver.

    129 signal strength on 622 versus 722

This is logical but difficult in my case due to receiver location and hookup. I may have to do it though. Thanks.

    129 signal strength on 622 versus 722

I have a dish 1000 antenna pointed at 110, 119, and 129. I have a 622 and a 722 hooked to the outputs of this antenna. On 129 the 622 shows a signal strength of about 45 the 722 has a signal strength of only 28-30 on the same transponders. The 722 is starting to pixelate and lose signal...
