GOT A NEW WALLY. now the fun

The factory Wally software doesn't recognize the EA satellites (61/72/77). If you repoint your Dish to get a signal off 119, run a Check Switch, then power the unit down, it'll download the updated software. After this, you can repoint your Dish for eastern arc and it will function. You will...

guide idiocy alert: Caprica on SyFy

I had my timer for Caprica on my 722 set to "New" episodes - and since they had never been recorded before, my DVR recorded all of them without a hitch last night, despite the date descrepancy. I hadn't even known they were on until I saw the recordings on my list.

Why Didn't Dish Put HD Camera on Sattellite?

Satellites take YEARS to plan and build. Perhaps the camera had been built in from a very early design stage. I'd bet that E* is planning a 1080i setup for Echo 14, and that'll give us an HD feed. (and a different angle, too!)

'Ghost Lines' a sign of a Defect in my Plasma?

About two months ago I picked up my first HDTV, a Panasonic 46" PZ80U. I had a lot of reasons to go with Plasma over LCD - and I've been pretty happy with it, although I haven't calibrated the picture fully yet. Since most programming is still SDTV, and I can't stand for warped aspect ratios...

How does Dish Network Internet work for Apple's

I love how Wildblue's now calling itself "Satellite Speed Internet" instead of "High Speed Internet" - I guess that title is reserved for Cable & DSL now. But then, what is FIOS? Sorry, I have to laugh. As for Dish High-Speed Internet (which is Wildblue in a thin wrapper) it's a little...

Disgusted with Billing & Technical Support

There's a lot not being told here. You mention multiple TVs, is it a single dual tuner powering two tvs? Or is it more than one reciever? If it's just a dual-tuner reciever, there are plenty of reasons that you may have lost some signal authorization, leading to the aforementioned black...

Getting Ready For Aug 15th What Happened To You

Okay... I can understand the want to watch those HD channels on another tv, but what does all this have to do with Aug 15? Your 811 isn't going to stop working, it'll keep recieving whatever you're getting now, based on what you've said is your package. If you want another 211 (or a 222 or...

    WB Satellite locations

Incorrect. Both Birds are located at 111.1*. Lyngsat has WB1 at 111.0* but Wildblue's own documentation indicates it should be at 111.1*. Anik F2 is at the same orbital slot. For most locations, the Wildblue aiming coordinates will be identical, just using the different TRIA to...

DishNetwork/ Wild Blue Internet service dying again?

Absolutely try another retailer, if not going through Dish direct - Pole Mounts are supposed to be included with a standard wildblue installation.

DishNetwork/ Wild Blue Internet service dying again?

Birddoggy is absolutely right. Wildblue is a great service - but if you have any (and I mean ANY) other options for local broadband, go with them. I'm a WB tech, and I've found a lot of people just don't have the patience for the latency that comes with Satellite internet. I use it every...

    Is this CSR wrong?

Leased Equipment is always replaced if failed. If you don't have DHPP then you pay a shipping charge. The lease coverage does not include remotes, accessories, etc. Accessories still have the one-year warranty, you still pay a shipping charge. Owned equipment has the aforementioned one year...

    Marvelous E* phone tech

If I may ask, what was it that caused the problem where you were only getting one channel?

    DishPro/Legacy ???

If you have a Twin (not dual) legacy LNB for 119/110 and a single legacy for the 61.5, you'd need a couple SW21s or a SW64 switch to be able to run dual satellite inputs to the reciever. Otherwise, you'd only be able to plug in either the 119/110 or 61.5, not both.

    24 month committment/DHPP credit?

Well, there were different DHA options available depending on when you signed up - they had 18 or 24 month options available - if you signed up with an 18 month commitment originally, the DHPP credit will stop then - regardless of DIU upgrades. However, if you originally signed up with a 24...

Does UHF Pro remotes work with 501 receivers?

No. 501 is UHF only, not UHF pro. You can use a 6.2 remote with a Black tab, which will make it broadcast standard UHF instead of UHF pro though.

    DHPP Pricing...

If you want to avoid the price increase after your contract ends, then you'd need to either a) cancel the DHPP - yes, you can do this, and re-add it later if you like; or b) downgrade other programming to offset the DHPP cost, if its worth that to you. Hope that helps.

    Equipment rental after the promotion

Your first reciever is always included in your base package price. So no. But you'd still be paying the lease fee on the 2nd reciever for as long as you have that equipment.

    622 == Battlestar Survivor

Pretty bizarre. Have you reset the reciever since the first time this happened at all? I'd be contacting Dish Tech to get your problem logged for sure if I were in your condition.

It's somewhat like a DISH screensaver...

It's a "Inactivity Standby" mode. Aka Screensaver. Puts the reciever into standby mode, allowing it to download guide and software. The same thing basically as turning your reciever 'off', but with a screensaver thrown in. It's been around forever on a lot of recievers, but only was...
