    Openbox S9 vs Manhattan RS-1933

There are improved versions of Openbox firmware that allows two channel record providing both channels are on the same transponder. Other improvements have been made to the Openbox channel editor including the ability to delete all of the channels on a selected satellite. You can buy a new...

Can't get mpeg 4 on a new HD receiver

You can probably get the same channels using the Pansat as you get with the Sathawk. The Pansat needs a tad bit more of a 70Q signal in order to watch these channels. Your 6ft. dish is considered marginal by many for these channels. Slight changes in the weather or the atmosphere could mean the...

Can't get mpeg 4 on a new HD receiver

Your receiver seems to be working OK and what you are seeing is normal. A good signal is needed on these transponders in order for them to work. Your 6ft. dish is small for a reliable signal on these transponders and the C/KU lnb you are using does not work well for a lot of people using a 6ft...

    Manhattan Update 3.4 thread

There is nothing wrong with tracking. The dish moves ok. You will never see the problem using the uni lnb because 22KHz is always on. This problem exisits using 1.2 commands. Connect a 22 KHz switch to two lnbs. Scan a few satellites that use 22KHZ off. Then scan a few satellites that use...

    Manhattan Update 3.4 thread

I can describe it but it would be better if you see the problem yourself. How do you have the 22KHz switch set in your diseqc 1.2 motor system?

    Manhattan Update 3.4 thread

A file was released to fix one minor issue? That is good I guess but it would have been better if the switch issue on the 1.2 motor was fixed. GregH

    Manhattan Update 3.3 thread

Some would disagree. It looks like there is a problem using Diseqc 1.2 commands and 22KHz ON. You should check this. GregH

    What's Better a S9 or S10?

How are you fooling the receiver? CKu Band Digital LNBF for C & Ku Band Model 741 The WSI 741 lnb has a built-in 22KHz switch. These lnb settings were designed for the c/ku lnbs like the 741.

    What's Better a S9 or S10?

I assume you mean a WSI 741 lnb? I cannot find a 721 listed. The Manhattan does control a 22KHz switch in the motorized mode if you use the Universal lnb settings. Any Manhattan firmware will control a WSI 741 lnb in the motorized mode but either the c or ku transponder frequencies will be...

    Channel Editor Problem

The editor in the S9 does not allow you to make any changes to the PID info. SetEditHD100 Is what you need. Do a Google search for it. GregH

For the Pros(many here) this is the dumb question of the week. . . . .

I have had good results using the Satellite Antenna Alignment tool to calculate the amount of offset a dish has but I do not measure the lip. This would be about the same thing if the dish was filled with water. GregH

For the Pros(many here) this is the dumb question of the week. . . . .

The degrees of offset may be found in the spec sheet of the dish. You can calculate the degrees of offset if you carefully measure the dish. The Satellite Antenna Alignment tool (2.87.0.0) works very good for offset calculations. This tool may be found by doing a Google search. GregH

Did I brick my S9 ? Please help

Unplug the receiver and disconnect the coax for the lnb. See if the rebooting stops. Your computer is not communicating with the loader program. Verify that the loader program is set to the same com port (com5) as your usb to serial device. The settings on the loader program should not be...

    Review of Manhattan RS-1933

Scott, How can you compare the Manhattan to a cheaper receiver like the Openbox when you do not have an Openbox to compare it to? Buy one of those ninety dollar Openboxes so you can see the difference first hand instead of second or third party. Again, I told you bluntly that the firmware needed...

    Review of Manhattan RS-1933

Think what you want and read posts the way you want. All I can tell you is there is a list of features and updates that are to be put into the Manhattan's firmware. I have posted pictures of a few of these updates in my last few posts. Good Evening. GregH

    Review of Manhattan RS-1933

I told you back in July there were motor/switch problems. Actually, You can use a 22KHz switch now to control two lnbs with the Manhattan but one of them will have to be scanned using the wrong l.o. frequency. This will result in the transponder frequencies being wrong. The channels and...

If Jeff was just making a box just for the TV market he would not need a EJTAG port on the motherboard. I cannot find a port like this anywhere on my Openbox receivers. GregH

    Review of Manhattan RS-1933

An improved file will be released soon that has some updates that will help some of us. LNB Universal settings of 5150/10600 and 5150/10750 have been added. This will allow people to use the combination C/KU lnbs more efficiently. It will also allow people to use a 22KHz switch to connect a C...

http://www.satelliteguys.us/260489-manhattan-rs-1933-thread-5.html 7-20-2011 Scott, I told you the receiver needed work before you bought it so why are you complaining? And Jeff should come here and post just because you bought a receiver that you are not happy with??? Good luck with that...

    Bad People Selling Clones!

I have read a lot and I have yet to see one post anywhere that says a box was killed because it was a clone. If somebody does actually find a clone kill post or thread, please send me its web address. GregH

    Bad People Selling Clones!

I have seen these receivers listed on Alibaba for 20-30 dollars if they are bought in quantity. Look around on the European sites and you will not find much discussion about clone Openboxes. This makes me think that there is no such thing as an Openbox clone because they are all clones to begin...

    Review of Manhattan RS-1933

What happened is pretty simple. They started out with a 2MB receiver and then changed to a 4MB version. But when they rewrote the 7-15 file for the 4MB receiver, some of the 2MB code was left in it. So they ended up doing a total re-write of the firmware and this has taken some time.

    Review of Manhattan RS-1933

IMO, It is not a good idea to load a file that was pulled because it was removed for a reason. New firmware should be available for this receiver soon. If you load the pulled firmware from July, you will have to redo some things in your receiver. Then when new updated firmware is released, you...

latest Openbox S9 firmware might be a keeper!

It sounds like you loaded the North American firmware version that does not contain networking. This firmware will load fine on a s10 but it will not load on a s9 unless it has a satellite file with channels installed in it. IMO, these firmwares are nothing but junk. Load the European firmware...
