Why is there a monthly service fee for a HD DVR? Is the recording process somehow controlled by SAT? Am I missing something here?? Is there any advantage in purchasing new HD receiver W/O recording capability and buying a seperate market available HD DVR ? :)

No HD for shows recorded on tape. Presently the shows have to be produced in HD or on film. Hogans Hero must be on film.

With 70,000 HD subscribers DurecTV receives almost one Million dollars a year from this source alone. ( Not counting premium channels and pay for view) . This could potentially double in the next 12 months if they would only recognize what the future holds. If all they are going to add is locals...

The added SD channels are no better in resolution than analog which makes the addtional channels even worse. If it was not for ESPN I would drop D HD in a minute. If this is the internet sight for High Tech TV maybe this D sight should be eliminated. Not true High Tech.
