Seems I've been banned from the Blu-Ray forum here at SatelliteGuys

Player: If the PS3 is claimed to break even atm (and if you believe Joe is making a sh!tload of money for a while already) for $399, what do you think it costs to manufacture a player that has only one expensive component from the PS3 in it - the BD drive. You might add the SoC that is quite...

Seems I've been banned from the Blu-Ray forum here at SatelliteGuys

The thing I find amazing is how the HD-DVD supporters think HD-DVD was so much cheaper to manufacture, it was such an amazing engineering feat all you had to do was put 2 in a dark room over night and you had a litter of the damn things. People Toshiba lost their ass on it. No one joined in...

I hope Warner already cashed Sony's check

Yes, it is. It's a snipe at Warner for taking Sony's $400 mill and refusing Toshiba's $250 mill several months earlier. (400>250!) Hugh, where is that in the link you posted?

Did ya see the Toshiba Superbowl add. Should sell plenty of players!!!

Have a question for everyone, in the Toshiba ad, it states 6 times the resolution, Blu-Ray states 5 times the resolution, is this true. I thought the two formats were the same res

Compare the Toshiba and Sony Ads for HiDef

It is a cool ad, the song they use helps generate excitement during the ad, and your right they were able to highlight a lot of movies in the short amount of time in the ad. I also think the clips they selected were amazing, a lot of energy in that ad.

Playstation 3 is no longer loosing money, looks like all those Sony haters are gonna have to find a new tune to sing... So not only is it the best Game machine and Blu-Ray player available, it is no longer a money looser for Sony. I wonder when Toshiba will be able to say they are no longer...

    NPD Hardware Sales Data

Sorry guys, I was referring to all the comments made about why the playstion3 should not be counted in the player numbers. One side seem to think that gamers would not spend money on Blu-Ray movies.

    NPD Hardware Sales Data

Your right, but how many Playstion 3 users are buying discs. Maybe they did not originally purchase it for that purpose, but after watching some movies they may be hooked, and unlike the x-box, you do not have to go out of your way to get the add-on, the disc player is built in. I would think...

    NPD Hardware Sales Data

Gee I would consider sales data facts, it may not be the whole picture, but it is data, and you can analyze data, it is showing a trend. The data simply identifies a trend in the standalone sales, which if I am not mistaken was what the red side said was important anyways. And besides, gamers...

    Costco quits selling HDDVD players

I think there was another big issue in the laser disc days, and that was recording, Laser disc was a playback only format, I know a lot of people who saw my laser disc and was blown away but you could not record on it. Everyone I knew with laser was an audio/videophile with home theaters. DVD...

Don't Say Goodbye To HD DVD, Yet

No, kicking a dead horse, once that horse is buried, then hi-def can start moving main stream. I think the biggest thing holding back hi-def is the confusion of having two hi-def systems, and people not wanting to get burnt on a large investment. I also know people personally who are not buying...

HD-DVD Hanging on by a thread

According to the Hollywood reporter, HD-DVD sales last week were 15% of total HDM sales. Could this be a 85:15 week, if that is true HD-DVD has no chance of survival. With those sales numbers how long before retailers start dropping HD-DVD. Could this be the end for Red, it would be great to get...
