Costco Rebate - How does it arrive?

I received the rebate from Costco in less than a week after my install. It came in the mail as a Costco gift card. I was amazed that it came as fast as it did.

My thoughts three weeks after switching from E* to D*

Ain't that the truth! I had NHL Center Ice when I was with Dish and they would only broadcast 20%-30% of the games in HD. It used to drive me nuts because I knew that the HD feeds were available. Never mind the fact that I could not watch any of my local teams...Rangers, Devils or Islanders...

My thoughts three weeks after switching from E* to D*

I also switched to Direct from Dish 3 weeks ago having been a Dish customer for over 5 years. My reason for leaving was like yours in that Dish would not or could not provide me with my local sports teams' channels. In the NYC area they were not even in SD. I agree with most of what you say...

Another E* Customer considering the swith to D*

The Costco deal is good till the end of July. I had Direct TV installed three weeks ago and I had the $180.00 gift card in less than a week!

MLB Extra Inning - Giants/Padres Blacked out in Chicago.

I'm glad I have resisted the urge to subscribe to MLBEI. Seems like every day this is an issue, someone not getting what they paid for. I don't need the aggrevation of having to call and talking to 3 or 4 CSRs before you get to the right person.

What are the requirements to become an installer?

You're probably over qualified to become an installer. When I had my Direct TV installed last week the installer did not read my work order and had no idea that I was supposed to receive MRV. When I pointed this out to him, he told me that inorder to have MRV service my box had to be hard...

A tip of the hat to Direct TV

They are already shown on my first bill. Thanks!

A tip of the hat to Direct TV

Thanks! Would have switched sides long ago if it wasn't for the contract with Dish. I was an NHL Center Ice subscriber on Dish and that was a real crap shoot as far as HD went. If there were 10 games a night only 2 or 3 would be in HD. Watched the Yankees and Mets in HD this afternoon. Even...

A tip of the hat to Direct TV

I had Direct TV installed this past Sunday. I ordered the Direct TV service through Costco in order to receive a $180.00 Costco gift card. I was told that I would have to wait 6 to 8 weeks for the card. Well the card was delivered today! Less than one week since my install. Direct had sent...

YES Network Being Dropped? (Agreement reached 4/7)

There was a full page ad in today's newspaper by the cable company aimed at Dish Network customers. This ad cited the lack of NY local sports on Dish. No Yankees, No Rangers, Knicks, Devils, Nets, Islanders, Mets or Redbulls. Boy am I glad I dropped Dish last week!

    I Finally Did it!!

You are right.........the customer pays to send the equipment back. He will either be billed by Dish $15.00 for using their shipping account or pay UPS to send them to Dish. I havn't sent my equipment back yet so I don't know which way will be cheaper.

Former Dish Net / New Customers Read This

I just have Direct installed on 4/3. I ordered 1 DVR with MRV, 2 HD boxes and 1 SD box. Four TVs total. The installer installed the dish and had everything hooked up. All of my TVs worked so I signed the agreement which was sitting on my kitchen table. The installer had explained to me how...

    I Finally Did it!!

When I cancelled Dish told me that if I used their labels to return their equipment, there would be a $15 charge. If you send them back and pay the shipping yourself there is no additional charge to return their equipment. It is much easier to cancel cable. When I cancelled cable a long time...

    I Finally Did it!!

Well I really did do it! I had Direct installed today and cancelled Dish. I would have done it sooner but I was under contract until this February. Losing MSG last October did it for me. When I called Dish to cancel they tried to offer me incentives to stay but I told them the one thing I...

    NYC locals in SD only?

I believe your chart is correct. They are the same channels I currently receive with Dish.I would think that if the NYC locals were not in HD there would be many threads on here decrying Direct TV. I know it would be a deal breaker for me. Can anyone in NY/NJ/CT confirm? Thanks again.l

    NYC locals in SD only?

As long as the NYC locals are in HD I am OK. The installer is coming in the morning. Thanks for putting my mind at ease.

    NYC locals in SD only?

My zip is 07011. My locals originate in New York City. This is what was on the bottom of my order confirmation: Service Agreement. You're set to receive the best in TV entertainment for 24 months as stated in your agreement. Your order includes HD Access and an HD receiver, giving you...

    NYC locals in SD only?

I am having Direct TV installed tomorrow. I just got around to reading the fine print on my order confirmation and it states that local stations are in SD only, not HD? My locals are from New York city. Is this true? CBS, NBC and ABC are only in SD? If this is true how do I cancel my...

YES Network Being Dropped? (Agreement reached 4/7)

Exactly why, after 5 years, I am leaving Dish. I am having Direct TV installed tomorrow. No MSG, No YES no SNY. No local NY sports teams on Dish which means no Islanders, Devils, Rangers, Knicks, Nets, Yankees, Mets, Red Bulls or horse racing from NY. This latest dispute with Dish and SNY...

    Another MRV question

Answered my own question.......The initial installation cost for the 2nd DVR is $199. vs $99.00 for the HD receiver. So the cost of having the second DVR will be an extra $100.

    Another MRV question

Thanks for the replies. By these answers the 2nd DVR would be the same price as another HD receiver. Why would anyone with 4 TVs get only one DVR? I must be missing something? Thanks.

    Another MRV question

Thanks for the replies. If I went with the 2 DVR suggestion what would the extra monthly charge be for the 2nd DVR vs an HD receiver? I don't record that many programs. If I understand the MRV setup correctly, if my living room TV is directly connected to the DVR and the recorder is in use I...

    Another MRV question

I am about to switch to Direct TV from Dish. I have 3 HD TVs and one SD. So I would get one MRV, 2 HD recievers and 1 SD receiver. If I am recording can I still watch live TV on all of the TVs? In other words if I am recording one show or two shows will I be able to watch live TV on all of my...
