What's a Good OTA Antenna for these results?

It would be impossible to answer that without seeing where/how you want to install the antenna. You basically mount the antenna on a suitable pole (for example: a DS-3000), ground the mast, run the coax to a ground block continue into the house to the 722 and connect the coax to the antenna...

zaxxon, I agree. For the price, it is hard to beat in terms of net gain over a wide frequency range.

What's a Good OTA Antenna for these results?

I use a CM 4228 antenna + CM7777 v/u preamp for great UHF, as well as these distant VHF channels: 9 @ 45 mi digital 10 @ 70 mi analog 13 @ 45 mi analog And occasionally channel 8 analog from >100mi. 8 of course, is snowy at that distance, but the others are great. Muckracker, this...

    OTA help

I agreee with Jim5506, but would start with just a CM 4228 antenna a CM 7777 V/U preamp and a rotor. The CM 4228 is sold as a UHF only antenna, but usually works well for higher VHF chs 7 thru 69. If lower VHF channels (2 & 3) were desired, add a separate VHF antenna.

    Splitting Antenna signals

The loss occurs from the splitter insertion and is always there, regardless of how many TVs are on at any given time. No additional amplification should be needed with a good high gain/low noise preamp. In fact, adding another amp may overload the signal.

    OTA=worthless to me

If you want decent OTA in Jonesboro, AR, you need a big tall tower and an outdoor antenna and preamp. And a digital OTA tuner. That will get you Memphis, TN. Otherwise, all you'll get OTA is abc & pbs from your immediate area.

    Hughes e86 OTA problem

Excessive heat over time in the E86 can eventually show up as several problems. Some have problems with certain satellite transponders, while others will begin to lose OTA channels, either digital, analog or both. The problem is not cost effective to fix and will likely happen again unless a...

    Hughes e86 OTA problem

Go back into setup and make sure all OTA channels are selected (have tick marks) in add/remove. Also add them to a favorites list. Is this a used E86? If so, it may have a heat-damaged tuner, which is very common.

About how good are pre amps specifically the radio shack one?

WSB chose channel 39 as their final digital channel in the first round of channel elections, and if their application list is correct, they did not file any application to go back to channel 2 in the 2nd round of channel elections. They have also already applied for and built a completely full...

Here's round 1 channel elections. http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/DA-05-2649A2.pdf More stations have chosen to abandon lowband VHF in the second round channel elections. Can't find the link for it right now though... It makes sense for the viewers. Less interference...

About how good are pre amps specifically the radio shack one?

Most (not all) stations that have initally been assigned a lowband VHF digital channel or currently have a lowband VHF analog channel have opted to give up their lowband VHF slot in favor of a higher channel with less impulse noise, lightning and tropo interence problems. Stations staying in...

About how good are pre amps specifically the radio shack one?

You're about right. If that combo doesn't work, there's not much more you can do except raise the antenna height or possibly stack two 4228s together, which for most people isn't practical. Remember that the 4228 is a high gain, very directional antenna, and must be precisely aimed. If you...

About how good are pre amps specifically the radio shack one?

WCAX's final channel looks like it will be 22 instead of 53. Channels 52 thru 69 not be used for TV after Feb 2009. They will be auctioned off for other wireless services. Any channels in that range will be moved by 2/09. The final TV channels will be 2 thru 51, with most being in the 7...

About how good are pre amps specifically the radio shack one?

jmcgee_jr, What VHF channels (actual RF numbers)? The CM4228 usually works fine for highband VHF channels 7 thru 13, and UHF, of course. More gain on high VHF than that RS antenna. If you want an amp, get the CM 7777 VHF+ UHF preamp. High gain/low noise.

About how good are pre amps specifically the radio shack one?

Then, get a 4228 instead of the 4221, and install it as high as you can. Both the 4228 and the antenna you have require very precise aiming. The 4228 will have much better gain over the entire high VHF & UHF channel bands than the RS antenna you currently have...

About how good are pre amps specifically the radio shack one?

If you're only 35 miles away, a CM 4221 should work just fine. If you have a long coax run, add a CM 7777 preamp. http://www.warrenelectronics.com/antennas/4221.htm http://www.warrenelectronics.com/antennas/7777.htm

    OTA Kicking some Major Arse

There are quite a few VHF digitals (four in Arkansas), and even a few lowband VHF digitals across the country. KETS-DT is on channel 5, which does not work well at all, due to impulse noise interference and tropo/eskip interference. They will be abandoning lowband VHF after the 2nd round of...
