    Dishnetwork couldn't install....would anybody else????

Homeowners wishing to install a satellite dish must first request permission, in writing, to the Board of Directors prior to installing a dish. The request must include dish diameter and location on the deck, along with a simple wiring diagram. The Board of Directors requires notification at...

    Dishnetwork couldn't install....would anybody else????

The condo assoc. may not have anything to say about it. Remember under federal law, you can put a dish anywhere that's under your ownership, or exclusive control. if they don't like it, tough. Worst case, if they try to cause trouble, you can petition the FCC to issue a Declaratory Ruling...

    Best way to bury cable?

Your soil must be nothing like mine, which the State Ag Dep't identifies as a type of "silty clay loam". In the dry summer season, you can barely get a pickfork through it, let alone a shovel. Why would he need to install conduit, if he's using direct-burial cable? Doesn't make sense...

    Wifi Interference

What makes you think that? Wi-fi operates at 2.4 and 5 GHz. DirecTV operates at 12 GHZ; even the downconverted frequency going to your receiver is sub-2.2 GHz. 'don't see why they would interfere. My wi-fi has never interfered with my satellite.

    Pre Amp Location

Just install it somewhere below the antenna; doesn't really matter where. Mount it with the connectors on the bottom (VERY IMPORTANT), so that rain does not get into the unit.

    RG6 question

Actually, I've seen some very poor quality off-shore coax. Some of the RCA brand coax sold in Home Depot, marked Made in China, is particularly bad. The dielectric is not solid, and may not hold the center conductor perfecly aligned as the cable is bend. This will affect impedance and return...

    What switch I should use

You can use a legacy quad on the 500, and a legacy dual on the 61.5, and 2 SW21 switches. 'have no idea about using a Directv LNBF.

    Install Options

If you use conduit (I did), use real conduit, NOT PVC plumbing pipe. The bends in plumbing pipe are too sharp to effectively fish wire through them. Use the grey PVC conduit, availavable in the electrical dep't of your favorite home center in 10 ft. lengths.

    Lost in Space...

That's not an issue here in the Pacific Northwest (I'm outside of Portland). It rains alot of the time in the fall-winter-spring, but almost never heavily. Not at all like Florida, where you can get soaked to the skin just walking from the door to your car. Here, it's just a light...

HELP! Condo Association Problem...not the usual though

Maybe, maybe not. See this from the FCC's declaratory ruling: It would be interesting to see what the FCC says in your case.

HELP! Condo Association Problem...not the usual though

Yea, but that applies to exterior walls that are "common area". In the case I remember, the exterior wall immediately above a balcony was not considered "common area". The Fact Sheet does not have force of law, but are just generic examples. If you really want to pursue this you should...

HELP! Condo Association Problem...not the usual though

On the FCC web site, there's a complete history of the case law on FCC declaratory rulings in the OTARD (i.e., rulings on interpretations of the OTARD that the FCC has made in respnse to Petitions for Declaratory Rulings by various parties). I remember reading one case where the FCC ruled...

E* Gurus - Has anyone tried this DishPro experiment?

I can't find I now, but I think someone suggested this to Scott in his Superdish thread as a way of combining his 61.5 dish with the Superdish. 'don't know if he tried it.

Adding 61.5 to Dish 500 w/ DP Quad

Also, the 61.5 dish needs a DishPro Single. No need to swap out the Quad, just leave two of the outputs unconected. The DP34 will configure one of the connected lines from the Quad for 110, and the other for 119.

New Cox Cable Bashing by ESPN

Absolutely. I don't give a rat's arse about professional team sports. I'm surpirised so many people do. I mean, I don't know any of these athletic mercenaries personally; I've never been able to figure out why I should care what they do. But if there are those that do, so be it. But if...
