That satellite that was launched last month, how many more
HD channels can it broadcast?

I got a DirecTV ad in the mail today saying 200 HD Channels coming to DirecTV Soon.

Their "SOON" is early next year.

Knowing D*, that means 50 more HD PPV's

I got a DirecTV ad in the mail today saying 200 HD Channels coming to DirecTV Soon.

200, or the capacity for 200 more? I can't even name 200 HD channels that are left to add, maybe they are taking into account various locals?

So roughly 60-70 more. That should nicely fill out the gaps left, and with all contracts in place that would be virtually all available HD stations. Hopefully Dish will get there at around the same time.

LOL! That is the best one I seen by Direct! Come on there not even 200 networks that have a HD Version of their channel. Direct is so full of it but I guess if you counted all of the locals in HD you might get close to 200. But right now they are not 200 ""NATIONAL HD CHANNELS".

Dish did a 'hit' this morning at about 6 am MST as I was watching ESPN HD Sports Center suddenly the picture went black and there was a cue tone and then a FSN HD channel was in the 140 HD ESPN spot. I changed channels down to 140 SD and saw the 4x3 Sports Center channel and then went back up to the HD channel and sure enough it was a FSN HD (infomercial) on that 140 HD Channel. I went back to 140 SD and watched for a few more minutes and then everything was restored on the 140 HD ESPN channel.

It was clarified that they meant "up to 200" from their current ~130.
