another one of those situations were Gray Broadcasting wanted to buy more than 1 of the Big 4 in a market, the FCC said No, so they buy one station and everything from the other except the license. They then move the programming to a subchannel of a station they already own

(Gray has done this in Nebraska and in Western ND already and Sinclair has done it in a few markets)
