4:3 formats on a 16:9 TV?

Hi.

I just ordered an 811 receiver, and in anticipation, I've been checking out the user manual online. I noticed there is virtually no discussion in there about what display formats the 811 supports for 4:3 broadcasts on a widescreen TV. So what are they? The manual mentions "Zoom" and "Normal" but doesn't give any details.

I assume there is some kind of uniform stretch mode. Are there any non-linear scaling modes?

normal displayes the black bars.. zoom brings zooms in so you dont have those bars

But I've seen other threads mention "stretch" modes. How are those accessed?

right now we have the page up/page down buttons to change formats. You'll mostly be using the HD outputs unless you are recording something or watching on a SD tv. So, you'll use the page up button and on 4x3 stations it will cycle through normal/grey bar/strecth/partial zoom/zoom. On 16x3 content it will cycle through normal/zoom. It keeps the settings between the two and is a seamless transition which I think is great

I keep the 4x3 content in partial zoom. It stretches some and zooms some as the name implies.
