New Puerto Rico HD channels are heating up!

Hi Everyone

Hey Digi since you suggested that maybe Dish is moving everything around on HI/AK/PR assigned Spotbeams to maybe put some more HD channels for PR. And seeing the massive movement of many channels from spotbeams TP's on 110' to 119' for HI/AK. Is it technicaly possible for Dish to reassign spotbeams that were previously assing to HI/AK to PR on 110' for this purpose ?

No those beams are only design for that areas that why the called them spotbeams. Conus beams covers PR and the Continental US, Alaska, Hawaii and VI

Any idea what Dish plans to do with those empty spotbeans at 110 for PR/AK/HI after moving them from 110 to 119?

They are not going to move the 110 to 119 no way they are going to fill up all the new stuff on the 4 beams on the 119 new bird. They can shuffle some channels from 110 to 119 but the beams on 110 are almost full they are using the beams that cover PR and cuba on 110 for some of our HD

New Puerto Rico HD channels are heating up!

Nel...the 15 channels that Dish mentioned r surely heating up..& ready to be availablel to subs here on Jun 3rd. Can u explain why there r 3 different HD channel range for PR subs?...Also when Dish plans to fill our remaining HD space with more HD channels. Dish had been HD leader in PR for sometime now. With Single Dish & even more HD channels...Dish is in great position to strenten their sub base here now....including very small 1 Dish 500 rather 2 individual ones.

I see my Rochester, Austin Locals in HD on there. Does this mean they are uplinked and waiting to be activated. I have not seen them on my set. I am currently receiving locals from 110. Will I have to do any changes to my configuration on my receiver to get these channels that appear to be on 119??

So I see the Wichita have been uplinked, but alas its now June 15th and I still don't have them and see no projected time frame to get them. Is there an average time from uplink to when they actually can turn on the channel or does it vary? Is there a reason for the perceived delay?

It could be a multiple of things... stations not signing the contracts, technical issues, etc. It's not as easy as you think for locals. They pick them up by OTA (or by fiber from the station) in Wichita, mux them all together and send them to the regional uplink via fiber. Then they are transmitted up to the satellite and back down. All the pieces have to be in place to make it happen.

I don't claim to know how any of it works. I was just simply wondering why it could be taking so long or if the delay is normal. I think I may have found the problem though. I dont know a lot about this STELLA bill that passed, but from what little
Ive seen it seems that new DMAs are required to carry PBS in HD, is this right? If this is correct a PBS station was not uplinked with the other Wichita channels, so maybe thats the problem.
