One thing I LIKE about the 722K is the groups feature.

Now I have my own folder where my recorded shows go. :)

This feature will be rolling out "soon" to 622's and 722's.

With all the issues I have had so far all of them are in relation to the OTA tuner, the receiver itself seems decent.
Can you move recordings there, or do they have to be directed there when you set the timer, or both??

Just to try something, have you reseated the OTA module on the receiver?

I'm not sure how strong your OTA is, Scott, but looking @ your first pics, there are 2 coax jacks for the OTA module. If this is the case, a 2 way splitter is required to get OTA on both modules (of course you know that) but that could be why the tuner seems to be less sensitive than the 622. I have my OTA running from a distribution center in the attic, through diplexers to get to my 622. If I were to toss another splitter in there (such as to go to the TV input as well as the 622) I'd lose one of my marginal channels for sure...

Not trying to "take up" for the new "K", but just a possible cause as to why the OTA isn't what you expected....

I think there was only one OTA port on the module. The other was the TV1 distribution out port.

Sounds like they need to do some work on the OTA modules. Possibly the latest gen chipset. Not sure which it has now as it was hard to read the chips. And a 3db booster before the 3db drop due to the split.

As much as I'd love to go back to one box, Ill hold off. The tivohd is flawless at the OTA recording I use it for.

Please keep us updated on what you hear from Dish on the OTA issue.

Doesn't the 2xxK use the same OTA module? Does it have the same problems, especially with signal strength?
The 211k does not use the OTA module. The 222k does, as near as I can tell form the photos and price.

I wonder if the learning remote that comes with the 722k could be used to transfer setting, timers from my vip622 to a new 722k? The vip622 appears to have some sort of remote communication.

It looks like they TRIED to add that functionality to the 622/722 (Press Menu Menu on your remote then select next and follow the on screen instructions)

But each time I have tried it my 622 has locked up solid requiring a reboot.

I've tried a couple of times, but of course I don't have the right remote. All it does is tell me it couldn't find either remote 1 or 2. Just wondering what it would do if I did have the right remote.
