I am a diehard RedSox fan, and I will not say "East:Yankees" until the old lady sings...
Unfortunately, we (i.e., RedSox) lost yesterday at home to the Evil Empire and the above may happen sooner than later. Oh well, we will kick your ass in the playoffs. ;)

Keep dreaming... The lady has started to sing.. :yes
The Red Sox will never reverse the curse... and the Yankees own Pedro... He has never beat them when it counted....

Do Red Sox fans blame Francona for yesterday loss or the curse?
Francona is a puppet.. He has no control over Wild Man Damon, Psycho Manny, or Wacko Pedro... The Red Sox management always lets the inmates run the asylum.. That is why they never will win anything of meaning... :no

Boston blows it again: N.Y. rallies off Pedro
Red Sox hit 3 HRs, but Yankees chase Martinez with
big hits, then seal 6-4 win; AL East lead at 5½ games..
read it and weep... :smug

Any team with the Yankees payroll can win it all. It has nothing to do with Psycho or Wacko or curse or anything. It is all about buying the best ERAs and RBIs on the market.

Actually, I believe that Pedro faced the Yankees 20 times and the RedSox won 9 times and lost 11 times in those games.

AL
East: Bronx Bomers
Central: Twin CT's
West: Ayyy's

NL

And those darned Cubs will be caught up in ANOTHER heartbreaker fan done stupid things to jinx the year.

from MLB:

Anaheim @ Oakland
In what has shaped up to be the tightest division race of
2004, the Angels and A's meet in a three-game series that
could determine this year's AL West champ. Oakland has
reached the postseason four straight years and can equal
its franchise record (1971-75) with a fifth straight trip.

*** POSTSEASON WATCH **************************************

Atlanta @ Chicago
A sneak preview of the NLDS? Atlanta travels to Chicago for
the first time in 2004 when the two clubs close out the
regular season this weekend. The Cubs and Braves last met in
April, when the Cubbies took two of three games from the
NL East champs. Chicago is locked in a tight race with
San Francisco, Houston and San Diego for the NL Wild Card
spot, and looks to secure back-to-back playoff appearances
for the first time since the 1907 and 1908 seasons.

*** POSTSEASON WATCH **************************************

San Francisco @ Los Angeles
From Bobby Thomson's "Shot Heard 'Round the World" in 1951
to the current race for the NL West crown, the Giants and
Dodgers have formed one of sports' greatest rivalries. The
two old foes square off this weekend in a huge three-game
series that could determine both the NL West champ and the
NL Wild Card winner. In addition to the playoff chase,
Adrian Beltre and Barry Bonds will be battling it out for
the 2004 home run crown.

*** DOUBLE PLAY TRIVIA ***********************************

"WHO AM I?" -- Insider Trivia

I've saved at least 45 games this year
I have an ERA under 2.50
I haven't allowed a HR all season

a) Mariano Rivera
b) Francisco Cordero
c) Jason Isringhausen
d) Eric Gagne

3 OF A KIND" -- Insider Trivia

What do these three past and present hurlers all have in
common? (Hint: Most don't want to get into this club.)

1. Brian Kingman
2. Mike Maroth
3. Jerry Koosman

20-game losers?

My guess for the first one:
a) Mariano Rivera (I think I've seen him give up a couple of homers)
b) Francisco Cordero (Texas, right?? Maybe...)
c) Jason Isringhausen (With all those team wins, he must have a lot of saves)
d) Eric Gagne (Barry took him deep on a 99 mph fast ball)

My answer:
c) Jason Isringhausen

Update:

NL West = LA/SF (Three games left against each other)
NL Central = St. Louis (going to the playoffs)
NL East = Atlanta (going to the playoffs)

WC = WOW! Houston has a half a game lead over SF and Chicago. I thought that Houston was dead in the water but they have proved me wrong.

AL West = Anaheim has taken over. If Oakland let the Angels win the division, Anaheim will be a dangerous team in the play offs.

AL Centra = Twins (going to the play offs)
AL East = Yankees (one more game to clinch)

WC = Red Sox (already going to the play offs)

The Texas Rangers were eliminated yesterday but they had one their biggest season. Buck is the manager of the year in both leagues as far as I know. He took a young team of no names and had them play over 500 baseball all season long. I really liked them.

I was sad to see my Rangers eliminated yesterday. I was really hoping to see them make the playoffs. This year's team is a prime example of how baseball should be. They had teamwork down all season long. They will be a dangerous team next year! :)

I hope the Angels win it really. I can't stand Oakland.

The Yankees clinched the Division Title in style yesterday and swept the Twins. They won 100 games for the 3rd consecutive year (never done in their own history). They broke their own franchise home run record set in 1961 by the M'Ms guys... and who more fitting to do it than Burn Baby Burn!!! Williams. The only guy left from the 1995 season.

Meanwhile in Chicago Land... (Cubs that is...), the Reds played spoiler with the cubs and for the second consecutive day the Cubs lost in the 12th inning another heartbreaker. Their pitching is not the problem but their hitting. According to various Sports Analyst the Cubs are not a team that can play small baseball to manufacture runs when they are not getting runs by hitting the long ball. Now they see themselves one game out looking at both the Astros and Giants. It will be a miracle if the Cubs make it. BTW, their pitching has been excellent. Kudos to the Reds for playing their play off series in September.

Giants vs LA: This is the series to watch this weekend. It is break or go home for the Giants. LA wins one game and the Giants will only be able to compete for the WC if Houston somehow manages to lose some games at home which they have been excellent as of late.

Giants, Dodgers and Astros ----> Three Spots for two teams... Which ones? Cubs?
