Does it make any sense that I can get these channels on cable and rent anything I want at a video store, but I can't get them on Sat.??

What can be done?

However, if it really is due to local obsenity laws, then so be it. Decency standards are (for the moment) one of the few rights still left up to individual communities and states... let's not invite big bro into that one.

Big Bro/Nanny State already is into this one... That's why he can't get the channels!

Exactly! Can't understand how having the govt in my bedroom is "...not inviting Big Brother in". Problem is, Little Brother (the states), insists on messing with stuff that's none of its business. That's when Big Bro needs to step in & smack Little Bro upside the head.

Dang And I thought that TX was the buckle of the B-belt. Sounds like Tenn must be the hole in the belt below the buckle with this info.

For years various southern states banned the possession and sale
of sex toys (usually for women) for moral reasons. Not too long ago they were all struck down as unconstitutional, but some strong religious groups are still trying to get them banned because they say it goes against the bible. In time it might be the same for programming, depending on how 'decency' is applied I suppose.

Here's what I don't understand. I live in Indianapolis, which is not part of the Bible Belt. All the new channels are blacked out. Only playboy is available, which is listed as x. Yet we have adult video stores that sell xxx videos legally, and some of these xx.5 and xxx channels are available to me on cable. Not to mention internet streaming. Why is it only on Dish that these channels are blacked out??

That is my situation also. I have asked dish they just say that's how it is. I guess I could tell them I will dump them for cable, even though I wouldn't.
