Hello,

I just got set up over the weekend with a dish 500 and cw700 which is working great. I would like to get Amazonas 61.0°W, but i live in Moreno Valley, CA. How big a dish would i need at minimum before i even attempt this?
TIA

you will need a 80cm dish or larger.

But I would check to see if you are even in the footprint of the bird.

doesn't look good

Given a zip code of 92555, Riverside, the elevation to Amazonas 61º west, would be about 19.3º.
However, as RVD420 suggested, check the Coverage Maps under BEAM, and tell us which transponder frequency you were planning to get. -

I bet is asking for 61.5W not 61W
...and if the footprint is correct, you would be out of coverage anyway.
...or 61W C-Band?

Nothing on an americas beam

Your SG2100 should go that far....I'm at the same location as you (literally....44.7N 93.3W) and I can see over to 45 no issues and could get to 30 but the dish hits the brace for the mast

I got to figure out the soft limits thingy. It stops moving at 61.5 it seems.

I have a tree line that eats up some of my horizon

I put the dish up 26ft on my roof to help with that problem

I cant get that far over...the dish hits the braces for the mast so it goes back to 93W

Freezy,

You are right on again. That is 43.0W Intelsat 3R. You are doing very well getting the far east sats for your longitude! Most are not as lucky as the sats are fairly low on the horizon and not many have a clear LOS for them.

I had to relocate my dish recently just because of this reason.

As for not getting all the channels as indicated on Lyngsat, I cannot either, but I used to with even just a 76 cm dish. I thought a larger dish and a better location would regain them, but still the same here, only two channels coming in. I get more than that when the feed channels are active, but only two constant channels.

the low symbol rate usually gives receivers fits on blind scan
