They need some sort of cloud app to do a backup to for DVR stuff.

no thanks, i want control over my recordings, not the provider. as soon as the cloud comes the internal HD will go away. charter already told me of their plans to do this.

Good luck on that no HDD DVR and cloud in rural areas with low speed broadband or no broadband availability.
